ALLAN CHARLES SHELTON Live in area Candelabras with yellow carnations, daisies, baby's breath and yellow bows decorated Victoria Street United Church in Goderich on Friday, July 27 at 6:30, p.m. for the wedding ceremony of Brenda Anne McClinchey and Allan Charles Shelton, both of Goderich. The bride is the daughter of Elmer and Naida McClinchey of. Goderich and the groom is the son of Charles and Jean Shelton alsoof Goderich. The Reverend John Wood officiated at the double ring ceremony. Music was provided by Mrs. Snyder of Goderich who played the organ and soloists Judy Langridge of Goderich and Janet Haines of Wingham who sang The Wedding Song and The Greatest Gift. The bride was given in marriage by her parents. She wore a long white gown of silk polyester featuring a high neckline in lace, a beaded yoke and a waist length veil. She carried •a silk bouquet of yellow roses and baby's breath. - 'Maid of honor was Jan Ginn of R.R. 2 Clinton, friend of the bride. She wore a yellow polyester knit gown with a blouson bodice, narrow straps and matching pleated sheer • cape. She carried a silk bouquet of yellow carnations, daisies and baby's breath. Bridesmaids were Barb Shelton, sister of the groom, Cindy McClinchey, sister of the bride and Christine McClinchey, niece of the bride, all of Goderich. They were gowned the same as the maid of honor and carried the same bouquets. Flower girls were Tracy Waterston of Brantford and Melissa McClinchey of Hamilton, nieces of the bride. They were gowned the same as the bride's other at- tendents and carried little baskets of 'silk flowers. Groomsman was Jim Ginn of R.R. 2 Clinton, friend of the groom. Guests were"ushered into the church by Ken and Grant Shelton,rothers of the groom and Rick Grant b !I y, brother of the bride, all of Goderich. Ringbearer was Micheal Ficht of Beamsville, ,nephew of the bride. Following the wedding ceremony, a reception was held at Saltford Valley Hall. The bride's mother greeted guests wearing a floor length soft green dress of polyester chiffon and a white gardenia corsage. The groom's mother chose a floor length coral polyester chiffon gown and a white gardenia corsage. .Guests travelled to the wedding from Indianna, Toronto, Clttawa, London, Hamilton, Wingham and, surrounding area. Following a wedding trip to Bracebridge, Ontario, Mr. and Mrs. Shelton took up residence. at R.R. 2 Goderich. Prior to the wedding, the bride was ,feted at a shower given by her sisters and sister-in-Iaws at her mother's home and at a shower given by Dorothy Dupee and Rita Powell for relatives of the groom. A stag and doe party was held for the bride and groom by friends. The annual Memorial and Decoration Day Service of Goderich Legion Branch 109 was attended by 50 members of the branch and Ladies' Auxiliary to Branch 109 at Maitland Cemetery on Sunday, August 19. The veterans formed up and marched to the Veterans' Plot behind the gluewater land and the Legion color party which was in the charge. of the Branch • Sergeant at Arms, Comrade Alvin Blackwell. • The Padre of Branch 109, the Reverend G.L. Royal, conducted the service and his address was based on Revelations 21:1-7. In his ,brief remarks, Padre "oyal rea obituaries ALICE (NAIRN) McHAFFIE Alice (Nairn) McHaffie died on Thursday, August 16 at Qualicum Beach, British Columbia. She was born in Goderich and lived in Goderich until her marriage in 1932 to Dr. D.S. McHaffie. She was predeceased by her husband. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Fred (Ann) Parker of ,Qualicum Beach and one brother, Charles B. Nairn of Dearborn, Michigan. MISS MARY GRACE MURRAY Miss Mary Grace Murray of San Francisco, California died in San Francisco on Wednesday, August 8 at the age of 79. She was •born on January 9, 1900 to Alexander and Grace (MacGregor) Murray in Bismarck, North Dakota. She taught school in San Francisco for 40 years. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Flora Bonham of Walnut Creek, California and one brother, James Murray of. Visalia, California. A graveside funeral service was held ' on Wednesday, August 15 at 1 p.m. The Reverend G.L. Royal officiated. Interment was in Kintail Cemetery. MRS. EVA LITITIA GAYNOR Mrs. Eva Lititia Gaynor, of 168A The Square, Goderich, died on August 14, 1979 at St. Joseph's Hospital, London. • She was born to Patrick and Johana Hogan in Ashfield Township', ' She . has lived in Ashfield and Goderich for the last 33* years. She was predeceased by her husband Matthew F. Gaynor in 1961. She hurch aye was married to him in Kingsbridge on November 25, 1919. She was a member of. St. _.. Peter's Roman Catholic Church. She is survived by five children, Lyle, of Tavistock, Phyllis (Mrs. Walter Mero), Therese (Mrs. Harold Harvey), Wilma, and Leon, all of Goderich; also nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; also one sister, Mrs. Donelda Stewart, Willowdale; she was predeceased by three brothers and five sisters, and two grandsons. LILY LE ITCH Mrs. Lily Leitch of Goderich died in Alexandra Marine and General Hospital on Saturday, August 18 at the age of 80. She was born on Sep- tember 26, 1898 to Robert and Sarah (Slack) Orr in Stanley Township. • • On August 11, 1920 she married. Albert Leitch in Bayfield. She was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church, Goderich. A funeral service was held at McCallum Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 21 at 2 p.m. The Reverend G.L. Royal officiated. Interment was in Bayfield Cemetery. Pallbearers were grandsons, Allan Johnston, Gary Johnston, Rex Johnston, Scott Ryan, Stephen Skelton and Michael Leitch. 1 1 • % stated that, "war who stand here today must think upon three words - sacrifice, suffering and struggle and we must keep them in mind again and again. It is necessary that we recognize the sacrifice of these veterans who rest here. We who remain must continue the struggle and make sacrifices and we will advance as we serve through Christ." Branch President Roy Mugford laid a wreath in memory of our fallen comrades and each Legionnaire then placed his poppy on the wreath. This part of the service was followed by the Last Post, the Silence and Reveille and the service concluded with the Benediction. The Branch President was the officer in charge 'of the service and the Parade Marshal was Past President Ralph Kingswell, Prior to the service, a small Canadian flag was placed on the grave of each veteran buried in Maitland Cemetery. We shall remember them.
