Miss Beth McConnell,
supervisor of the Dungannon
library since 1949, was guest
of honor at a retirement
dinner given -by the Huron
County library board, Thurs-
day evening, August 9.
This bountiful dinner was
held at the Harbour Park Inn,
Goderich, attended by some
members of the Huron Coun-
ty board and West Wawa-
nosh council.
A lovely corsage of pink
carnations was -pinned on
Miss McConnell by Mrs.
Bruce MacDonald, secretary

Mr. Donald McKenzie, a
former board member, recal-
led early library days when
the local schools contributed
numbers to the annual lib-
rary concert, an interesting
her appreciation in a fitting
reply.
Miss McConnell's retire-
ment is effective August 1
and Mrs. Amy Wiggins as-
sumed this position, with the
library being moved to her
home.

Graham McNee have re-
turned from a three-week
conducted . bus tour to. the
West Coast. Rdbt, Sherwood
was the most capable bus
driver. On the trip out they
took in the Calgary Stam-
pede and while in B.C. they
visited the Butchart Gardens
in Victoria and the Columbia
Ice Fields among other
things. On the return trip
they all enjoyed the festiv-
ities of the Klondike Days in
Edmonton, Alberta.
Mrs. Brenda Fancy is a
patient in Alexandra Marine
and General Hospital since
Friday. Patti, Kevin and
Tammy are spending the
days with friends at Kin -
lough.
Dwayne Rivett finally ar-
rived at his destination in the
Maritimes after a mix up at
the airport in Nova Scotia; he
and his uncle have spent
some time in Labrador the
past week. His aunt and
uncle reside •in Newfound-
land.

ael are opening a new store
in Goderich featuring .bulk
iteins for shopping conven-
ience. Best wishes on your

cinnati, Ohio for the week-
end, when Larry competed in
a bowling tournament. She

returned from a 10- day
northern trip, mainly in the'
Madawaska area.

the Bill Park residence to
help Marie celebrate her
birthday. All the family were
home and Mrs. Thos. Park
and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Ash-
ton of Goderich as well.
SPORTS
On Wednesday night the
Dungannon "Beez" lost to
Kinloss 27 - 17 in a .game
played in Kinloss. The A's
were- defeated by Kings-
bridge in a 28 - 3 game
played at Dungannon.
In local soccer action on
Thursday night Dungannon
beat Colborne by a 4 - 1 score
at Colborne: Jeff Gibson
scored twice with Paul Jer-
ome 'and John Curran each
scoring once.
In the soccer game at
Lucknow, Lucknow defeated
Kingsbridge 5 - 3.

As a result of the• substantial amount of rain Goderich received
last Thursday night, this cement block wall collapsed. Owner of
the lot is developer Bob Gibbons, who hopes to build a three
storey Pizza Factory, bar lounge, and office complex.

Match to be held on

coaching for the plow
boys and girls will start
at 9:30 a.m. Ray Mon-

the Ontario Plowmen's
Association, and his
assistant will be on hand
to give advice on the fine
points of match plowing
especially those learning
to plow. •
The Huron Plowmen's
Association is sponsoring
two Sod Buster 4-H Clubs
in 1979 - one in the north
with leaders John Clark
and W. J. Leeming - and
one in the south with
Allan Walper and Allen
Turnbull as leaders.
On Saturday, Sep-
tember 1, the regular
match will get under Way
at 9:30 with 11 classes to
be competed in including
the Queen of Furrow
class - for prizes in cash,
goods, trophies of ap-
proximately $4,000.00.
A horse shoe pitching
contest with two classes,
one for Htiron� players
and one for alll comers,
will take place, as will
nail driving contests -one
for ladies and one for
men.
