Wed outdoors
An outdoor setting provided the pretty backdrop for
a wedding ceremony in which Darlene Chowen and
Gary Prouse were united in marriage on Saturday,
July 28.
The Reverend Oestreicher officiated at the double
ring ceremony which took place in. the garden at the
home of the •"bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. William
Chowen, R.R. 3 Clinton. The lake, rolling lawns,
clusters of snap dragons; sweet peas and hanging
baskets of geraniums and petunias added to the set-
ting.
The groom is.the son of Robert Prouse of Goderich
and Lois Hallam also of Goderich.
The bride chose a picturesque gown of snow white
sheer with a mandarin neckline, empire waist and
bodice appliqued with. Belgium lace and seed pearls.
The long flowing skirt featured a chapel train. A
matching Juliette capulette clasped with a finger tip.
veil completed the ensemble.
The bride carried a bouquet of cream camellias with
accents of apple blossorns and pink -sweetheart roses.
Maid of honor was Melodie Howse of Clinton. She
wore • a gown of parma-violet molairne with
Elizabethan bodice and softly pleated skirt accented
with alcenon lace. She carried a bouquet of violet
delphiniums, apple blossoms and rose camellias.

identically to the maid of honor and carried the same
flowers.

wore a lilac calico print gown featuring a Peter Pan
empire waist and highlights of eyelet trim. She
carried a wicker basket of lily of the valley and lilac
delphinium.
Best man was Ken McPhee of Goderich.
Guests were ushered by Tom Schmidt of Goderich
and Barry McDonald of Blyth.
Following the wedding ceremony, a reception was
held at Saltford Valley Hall.
The bride's mother greeted guests in a platinum
tone imported chiffon gown fashioned with flyaway
miniature pleated skirt accented with French blue
trim and a corsage of quick silver roses.
The groom's mother chose a gown of lavendar
quiana in blouson style with accents of embroidery
and•a corsage of pink sweetheart roses. '
Guests were present at the wedding from Detroit,
Oscada and Shining Tree.
Following a wedding trip to Jamaica, Mr. and Mrs.
Prouse will take up residence in Clinton.

given by . Bertha Griffith and Anna Haugh in
' Wingham; Janeen Clynick and Vi Peterson in Clinton;

Clinton; Isabel Gibson in Seaforth; and the Wise

Junior Farmers
sponsor new
garden project
The Huron County
Junior Farmers are
sponsoring their .second,
annual Garden Project at
the Bluewater Centre for
the Developmentally
Handicapped in
Goderich.. With the help
of several residents from
the Centre and a student
hired for the summer,
-they have planted and
weeded and will harvest
and market a vegetable
garden.
The Centre is equipped
with a garden tractor and
two rototillers which are
used to care for the one
and a half acre garden.
The Bluewater Centre is
anxious to make use of
the surrounding
property, while; at the
same time preserve the
rural setting and to
provide agricultural
training to some of the
res idents.
The Junior Farmers
hope to make a profit
from the project and
return a porti n of it into
imIproving the gardlen of
the facilities a the Centre
for additional resident
training and summer
employment -for stu J -e its":
The whole purpose of this
project is to give the
residents practical
training that will
hopefully enable them to
return to the community
with added skills. But to
be sucdessful with this
project the Junior Far-
mers need the support of
'the community.
Last year, this support
'was gratefully shown
through the donation of
seeds, plants, herbicides
and fertilizer from stores,
garden centres and co-
operatives throughout
Huron County. This year,
with some of the profits
from last year's garden
crop, the supplies were
purchased from many of
these same stores.
The successful con-
,clusion to this worthwhile
summer project will be
the marketing of the
fresh produce at com-
petitive price' within the
community and local
stores.
