COUSINS
In loving memory of a dear
husband, father and gran-
dfather who passed away
August 15th, 1976.
You suffered much in silence
Your spirits did not bend,
You faced your task with
courage
Until the very end.
In tears we saw you sinking
We watched you fade away,
Our hearts were• almost
broken
You fought so hard to stay.;
And then we saw you
sleeping
So peaceful free from pain,
We could not wislj you back
with us
To suffer so again.
-Sadly • missed by, wife
Florence and family. -32x

It brings a day we will never

With tender love and deep

WATKINS
In loving .. memory of my
beloved father and grand-
father,' John William
Watkins (Bill), who passed.
away one year ago, August 8,
1978.
Please GOd forgive my silent
tear,
A silent wish that my father
were here,
There are others, yes I knoW,
But he was mine and I loved
him so.
One year ago, I had to part,
With the one I loved with all
my heart.
The wound is deep, it will not
heal, •
Only those who have lost
know how I feel..
If I could speak with my Dad
today,
Laugh with him in the same
old way,
Hear his voice and see his
smile,
Then life indeed would be
worthwhile
Sleep peacefully Dad.-

Round
n'About
with
Martha
This long weekend has
had days of many
pleasures with children,
grandchildren and
GREAT grandchildren
AND old and beautiful
friends. I shouldn't say
OLD friends since they
are young in years but the
many, many years we
have known and enjoyed
them makes them
beautifully OLD.
Son Don and Fran were
in from Windsor with son
Iain (youngest son) and
his friend, Earl Decker.
Their oldest son Donald
had arrived here Wed-
nesday or Thursday with
his three sons, Donald,
Andrew and Mathew
(good old MacPherson
names-!) bound for a
camping trip in the
wilderness. They ended
up in a nice woody spot at
Ben miller Government
park.
Martha Rathburn
Sunday morning fairly
early - for Sunday - hubby
and I drove out to see
them. They had a nice
spot and were enjoying
all the modern con-
veniences of camping - in
a camper.
Mathew, , about -four
years of age, talked a
blue streak and soon
brought us up to the,
minute on what they had
done, were going to do
and a long imaginative
tale, at times, about the
whole thing. He has
brightblonde tousled
hair, bright blue eyes and
a smile that sparkled all
the time. Whatever the
subject, he quickly had a
story for it which always
hovered around the•
possible and kept you
thinking fast to separate
the truth from his great
imagination. Very en-
tertaining ' and most -
enjoyable.
The two older boys -
about six and ten - were
busy.playing. bait ...or
straightening out Matt's.
tales for us. Matt had to
have" his turn at bat and
by his stance and han-
dling of a bat. as tall as
himself, you'd say he was
an old pro - he even hit the
ball several times. He
made up his own bases -
the third plate being
beyond home base - but
he always made it.
He told us of how he had
slipped while "swim-
ming" in the river - and
started to float down-
stream - which is quite
'fast - the stream that is!
His brothers and Dad told `°
how they turned to find
him spouting like a little
fish - nonchalant as a fish
too and floating away.
Scared them to pieces -
but not Matt - he "just
couldn't get a footing''. •.....
Later we went to Chuck
and Millie's - for lunch it
turned out - and then to
Bill and Betty Reid's and
their big pool.
The kids took to the
water right away,
followed by the
grownups. The two older
boys are good swimmers
but Mathew hatdn't,
learned --yet! He
jumped in but close to the
ladder and kept close to
the low end wall as the
water came to his chili..
He climbed out' • and
jumped in again so many
times that he forgot he
couldn't swim.
He had no fear, of the
water. He watched his
brothers diving and
swimming under ',nater
and decided to do it too. I
nearly had a fit watching
him!
Finally he started
diving from the edge to
whoever was nearby -
underwater all the time. I
just couldn't believe I
was seeing it happen. He
was going right to the
rope that
