dards Association (CSA)
and the manufacturer are
warning' owners of
Proctor -Silex Automatic
Drip Coffee Makers to be
aware .of a possible fire
hazard.
During the past several
months a number of
coffee makers reportedly
caught fire.
Investigations by the
manufacturer have in -
.cheated that in mo.s.t cases
the fires have been
caused by improper
servicing or tampering
with the electrical
system. All of the fires
occurred ..with coffee
makers made before
December 1976.
If your coffee maker
has been serviced,
repaired or the bottom
plate .removed for any
reason by anyone at any
time, use of your coffee
maker should. be
discontinued im-

Western Fair's fifth
annual search for -the
"Fairest of the Fair"' is •
•underway- as
preparations for the
September . 7 to 16
exhibition swing into high
gear.
To be eligible, entrants
must live in southwestern
Ontario, be.__ -18 years o%
age or over and available :
for judging and during
the fair. They will be
-marked on poise, charm,
appearance• • and per-
sonality, ,and niay be
required to give short,
impron\,ptu speeches.
There ;grill I?C no swim
suit competition.
The successful con-
testant Will act as official
good will ambassador for
the 1979 Western Fair and
will receive an
honorarium and ex-
penses. Included in the
prizes are trip to Negril
Beach, Jamaica and a
wardrobe. A valuable
consolation award will he
presented to the runner-
up. In addition, the
winner may compete for
the title of "Miss CNE --
Sweetheart of the Fairs"
at the 1980 Canadian
National Exhibition,
subject to the CNE's
eligibility requirements.
Entries close at 5 p.m.
on Friday, August 17 and
applicants should contact

Preliminary judging
will take place on
Thursday, August 23 at 7
p.m.; semi-finals will be

competition --a disco
dance contest!
The competition is open
to any dance couple and
entry forms. can be ob-
tained' at the Western
Fair Association (same
address as above) by
noon on Friday, August
24. There is no entry fee
but contestants will, he
required - to pay 'the
regular'-' fair admission
charge.
Judging will he based
on dance ability, material
used in routine, posture,
originality, appearance,
-choreography, presen-
tation, 'projection and
crowd appeal exhibited
during the four minutes'
dance time allotted each
team.
