The Goderich Lions Club hosted 61 youths from.19 different countries, states, and provinces for a day of activities in Goderich. (photo by Cath Wooden) These teenagers look a little weary as they wait to board the bus after a tour of the Huron Historic Jail. They come from countries such as Japan, Finland, France, Italy, Switzerland, and Holland, . and states such as Mississippi, and Texas. Part of..the Lions Youth Exchange, 61 young people staying in southwestern Ontario were hosted the the Goderich Lions Club last Friday. (photo by Cath Wooden) Teenagers from 19 different countries, states and provinces took a tug boat ride together last Friday when the Goderich Lions Club hosted them for 0 day. The youths are staying in southwestern Ontario for six weeks as part of the Lions Youth Exchange program. (photo by Cath Wooden) SMILE A man sat in on a card game for the first time. He was more than a little surprised to see a dog sitting at the table. As he watched, the dog drew three cards, held them between the toes of one paw 'and raised the ante with the other paw. When the manexpressed amazement the dog's owner replied, "Aw, he's not so good. Every time he gets a good hand he wags his tail." +++ The football coach, dejected because his team was losing again, looked down the bench of substitutes and yelled, "All right Smith, go in there and get ferocious!" Smith jumped up with a start and cried, "Sure coach, what's.. his num- ber?" • •++ New play August The fourth offering of the season at the Huron Country Playhouse is the very human and hilarious comedy, The Owl an_d, the Pussycat. The comedy is set in the" San Francisco apartment of Felix Sherman, a bookstore • clerk who fancies him set! a member of the literary profession - that is until he meets Doris,`a brassy - mouthed, street -wise girl. Two opposites, she is illiterate, but world -wise; he is supposedly an in- tellectual expert, but dumb in things that really count. The hilarious, heart-warming comedy occurs when he tries to improve her mind anck she tries to improve his joy in living.
