COOK Ashfield event MacLeod tartan bows marked the guest pews in Ashfield Presbyterian Church for the marriage of Catherine Joan Simpson, Kintail, and Kevin Malcolm Cook of Ripley on Saturday, June 23, 1979 at 3.30 p.m. Rev. Hugh Nugent, Ripley officiated at the double -ring ceremony which united the children of Mr. and Mrs. Robert M. Simpson, Kintail, and Mr. and -Mrs. Graham L. Cook of Ripley. The bride who was given in marriage by her parents, - 'chose a gown of polyester knit touched with appliques imported from France. The lace accelited-the Weer yoke - of the bodice, the neckline, and •cap sleeves. Matching scalp lace edgecLthe neckline and -cap sleeves. The dress featured a long cathedral train which fell from an empire waist. A Juliet cap of matching lace accented with tiny pearls held her -one-tier fingertip pure silk illusion veil •edged with matching lace. She carried a cascade of white gardenias and ivy. The maid of honour, Don- na MacClenaghan of Dun- gannon wore a blouson style gown of pale yellow, which featured a draw string neck- line. She carried a nosegay of tiger lillies, daisies and small yellow roses. Attending as bridemaids were 0.Margaret Ferguson, - sister of the bride, Goderich; Donna MacLennan, sister of the groom, Kintail; Mary Colling, Ripley, friend of the bride; Helen Cook, sister 'of the groom, Kincardine and Connie MacGlynn, Teeswat- er, friend of the bride. They wore gowns and carried - nosegays similar to the maid of honour. Jennifer Dalton,, niece of , the bride, Kingsbridge, was flower girl. She wore a white floor length. gown of eyelet 'with matching yellow trim. She wore a yellow ribbon in her hair. The groom was assisted by Mark Stanley of Ripley as ' best man. Guests were by Arthur Simpson, brother of the bride,"Kintail; Robert Simpson, brother of the bride, Kintail; Cameron Cook, brother of the groom, Kintail; Ken MacKay, friend of the groom, Ripley and Ken Stewart, Ripley, friend of the groom. Christopher MacLennan, Kintail, nephew of the groom was ringbearer. The groom chose an ivory tuxedo with brown trim and a bountonniere. of lily of the valley. The groomsman wore ivory tuxedoes with brown trousers and yellow rose boutonnieres. The organist, Lillian Simp- son, Kintail, the bride's aunt, accompanied the solo- ists, Flora Simpson, Kintail and Gerry McNulty, Kin- cardine when they sang The Lord's My Shepherd, Devot- ed .to You and You Light Up My Life •while the register was signed. A reception followed in the Ripley -Huron Complex where the bride's mother re- ceived wearing a gown of sea -foam green of cocktail length with a blouson effect. She wore a corsage of gard- enias. The groom's mother as- sisted in a peach floor length sleeveless gown with a ruffl- ed cape collar. She wore a corsage of white roses. Master of Ceremonies was Bernard Carney, Lewiston, N.Y., cousin of the bride. For their trip to the Pocono Mountains, 'Pennsylvania and Niagara Falls the- bride chaused to a skirt snit feat- uring a MacLeod tartan skirt and black velvet jacket with a white ,blouse and a black tie at the collar. She wore a corsage of white gardenias. The couple will reside in Kintail. The groom is em- ployed with Dominion Roads, Goderich and the bride is employed at the Blue Water Centre for the Development- ally. Handicapped. The wedding was attended by ' guests- Lewiston, Buffalo, Goderich, Whitby, 'Ripley, Clinton, Sault Ste. Marie and the Kintail area. Prior to her- marraige the bride was feted at a com- munity shower at Ashfield Presbyterian Church, a shower for 'relatives hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Robert N. Simpson and a shower for girl friends hostedby Donna MacLenaghan. Residents enjoy excursion... * from page 9A four young guests provided the en- tertainment. Sing Song led by Miss , Minnie McElwain, accompanied by Mrs. J. Freeman at the piano opened the program. Mrs. ,Jim Robinson sang the solo "I walked to -day where Jesus walked", and "If that isn't Love". Lisa Lamkin, Anne Robinson, Craig Penney, and Todd Reddon played guitars and drums to the tune of "Let's all go down to the river". Lisa Lamkin and Anne Robinson sang "If I were a butterfly", "Let us Pray", "Hold my Hand", and It only takes a Spark", with Potts. John at the piano. , Next; Miss • Minnie MCElwain sang "Amazing Grace", and for her second solo she sang' "How Great thou Art". Happy,. birthday was sung to the 22 HuronvieW residents celebrating July bir- thdays, and juice and cuptakes were served. Mrs. , Margaret Turvey thanked the Institute for the wonderful en- tertainment, gifts and crochet corsages. The C.N.I.B. picnic was hed on Wednesday af- ternoon at Harbour Park., Mrs.'Minnie Fowler, Mrs. Myrtle Parker and Mr. Jim Ruddock. After arrival, we played several games which included guessing the number of beans in a jar. Myrtle Parker won the prize for the closest guess. Sandwiches, pickles, squares,, tarts and cookies were served at the close. Mrs. Proudy held Bible Study Thursday af- ternoon in the chapel. Day Care held a Snowball dance also on Thursday afternoon. The theme of the dance being Christmas,- and the auditorium was decorated appropriately.
