Last Wednesday the peewees' ripped, Crediton 15-7 in Goderich and then handed Crediton their second straight loss with a win in Crediton, Monday. In the game in Goderich last Wed- nesday, the peewees piled five runs in the first in- ning and added a five -run outburst in the fourth inning en rout to the win. Daryl Madge„ Randy Gaynor, Matt Buchanan, Jim Keller, David Almasi and Mike McCallum had two hits each for Goderich. McCallum produced two run -scoring triples and Madge and Keller each connected for a triple. Gaynor, Keller and Tom Pitre scored three runs each for the peewees. The Goderich offence was backed up by a solid pitching ,performance by Keller who struck out 14 batters in the game and walked six. On Wednesday the peewees hosted Exeter in a league game at Agriculture Park and Saturday Goderich will play in Clinton. Little Bowl wins 6-3 Little Bowl won their third game in 18 starts with a 6-3 victory over Green and Parent in Industrial League action, Monday. ' The Bowlers struck for 10 hits in the game and piled up five runs in the first two innings en rout to the win. David Patterson en- joyed a fine night at the plate for Little Bowl connecting for two doubles and a single in four at bats. He doubled in the first inning to drive in a run,singled in _the second to drive in another run and added a run - scoring double in the fourth. Team-mate Mike Wildgen chipped in with two hits and scored two runs. John Warr fhad two hits for Green and Parent and drove in a run. John Crawford went' the distance for Little Bowl allowing three runs on eighthits and striking out one batter. Losing pitcher, 'Jim Martin was tagged for six runs on 10 hits. a_nd also _ struck out one batter. The money was raised at a hockey reunion and dance held at Saltford Valley Hall on July 7. The committee gave Ken Miller special thanks for his help with tickets and invitations for the reunion. A nine hole course can't support a very large field and the 54 Jady entrants found- that number to be just about right, with no waiting and no one breathing down your neck. Ev Evers of Kincardine was the winner of the day with a low gross of 84. M.aitland's own Joan McDougall was low net for the'fie.ld with a net score of 63. Joan played her best -game ever, and - she certainly picked the right time to do it. Other Maitland win- ners, in order, are as follows: 1st flighty - Maxine Martin, Jean Knight, Shelagh 'Sully, Ardith Brissette, Hazel Beaver, and Gerry Mountford; 'second flight - Edna.- • Looker, Bud Elliott, Marg Hinton and Chris Hoffmeyer; third flight - Vern Frith. Bertha McGee won putting prize for third flight 'and Shelagh S.ij,y smacked out the longest drive. Debbie and her girls in the kitchen excelled theanselves and there were many compliments about the delicious meal. The groundskeepers had the course in excellent shape and Paul Johnson • and his crew were in- valuable as starters and scorers: Thanks to the help of many - sports captain, social convenor, ladies taking entries, looking after morning refreshments, lunch and purchase of prizes - we had a great day! The previous night was regular: Ladies' Night and we managed to golf as well as get last minute details,attended to. First flight winners were Gerry Mouhtford with Max Martin , having lowest number of putts. Verna Kane and Marg Hinton tied for second flight honours, followed by Edna Looker. Jean Papernick and Verna Jackson tied for putting prize. Vern Frith and Gail Bettger were third flight net and putting winners respectively. Auleen Curry and Noni Collier took fourth flight prizes. Men's night saw a crowd of 50 turn out even though it was a pretty sultry evening. First six winners were Ken Hall, Bill Hanly, Jeff Harrison, Jack Gould, Doug Hesk and Fred Looker. Draw for Golf Balls was won by Don Elliott and Bill Duncan was the lucky winner of the other draw. the -other draw. Next Sunday at 4:30 is Couples 2 -Ball. Be there for a fun time and good food. Matiland's Annual Couples Tournament will be held on "Saturday August. 25. The McDougalls and Palmers win Sunset event Fred and Reva Palmer of Indian Hills and Paul and Shirley Baechler were the low gross and low net winners of the Annual Couples Tour- nament held at the, Sunset on Sunday. Forty-eight couples participated in this event with 18 clubs being represented. .Some fine golf was played, with an abundance of fellowship following. Other Sunset winners were Joyce and George Bolton, Ellen and Stan Connelly, Thora McCabe and Harold McPherson. Maitland winners were Art and Gerry Mount- ford, Verna and John Kane, Pat and. Fred Jewel, Bill and Jean Hanley, and Fred and Edna Looker. Congratulations to all on a very successful day. The point winners on Men's Olympic night were: first flight Stan Connelly, Bob McDougall, Stan Telford and Paul Baechler; second flight went to Harold. McPherson, Paul Corriveau, and "John Shaddick; third flight was won by Pete Teichert, Ian Stoker and Ray Cook. This certainly was a mixture of your skill at golf, horse shoe, Whatty, and hidden holes on the courses. ° The men will be holding a special field day on •Sunday July 29, as they will play for the Fred Hull's Memorial Trophy as a four ball best ball team. Rumig's single leads G and P to 2-1 win Green and Parent scored a single run iri the top of the seventh inning to shade Fishers 2-1 in Industrial League action, Wednesday. The win was the fifth of the season. for G and P against 11 losses. Fishers have eight. wins , and 10 losses and are in third place in the Dunlop division. Brian Rumig nailed a two -out single in the top of the seventh to score John Warr and provide Green and Parent with the margin of victory. The win was a come - from -behind effort by G and P as Fisher took the lead in the second inning on a run by Jim Durst. G and P tied the game in the fourth inning as Walter Bell reached base on an error and John Warr stroked a two -out triple. Warr was responsible for the winning run as he doubled in the seventh and scored on Rumig's hit. . ,Warr was' the game's top batter with a double and triple in two trips to the plate. Rumig, 'Leroy Meriam and Bell had the other hits. Jim Martin picked up the win and stopped Fisher on just three hits. Doug Fisher allowed two runs on five hits for Fisher.
