Afternoon Auxiliary members and friends totalling 36 had -a very enjoyable summer picnic meeting at the home of the Reverend and Mrs. Ron McCallum on Tuesday, ,July 17 at .2:30 p.m. The ladies assembled in the living room where President, Mrs. G. Kaitting, conducted the meeting, welcoming all. After reading one of Edger Guest's poems, "Laughter", followed by prayer and the Lord's Prayer, the business was attended to. _Minutes of the May and June meetings were attended to and the roll call showed that several members who have not been able to be present for some months were presentand all received a warm personal welcome. - Mrs.. Ella Bogie, Friendship and Service, reported she had visited at Huronview and Maitland Manor and several other members. Mrs....._..Q__.__Falkiner,.. corresponding secretary, reported several • members had been remembered with cards. Mrs. Irene Oke, the, W.M.S. is pleased to report, is home from the hospital as is Miss Myra McNevin. The W.M.S is sorry to report that Mrs. Helen MacPhee is' a patient in the Goderich hospital. Mrs. A. Straiton reported for supply fund and Mrs. G.G. MacEwan gave the treasurer's report. The president men- tioned there will be no meeting during August and the next meeting will be 'Tuesday, September 18 when the W.M:S.. ob- serves its 95th an- niversary. A com"mttee' of Mrs. R. McAllister, Mrs. C. Edward, Mrs. G.L. Royal and Mrs. G.G. MacEwan was appointed to, be in charge of the program and speaker, and Mrs. Catherine Wilson offered to convene the lunch. Mrs. Ella Bogie read two appropriate poems, one of which was, "We Reap- What We -Sow'' and gave several humorous sayings. PROCLAMATION To the Citizens of the Town of Goderich As directed by resolution of the Municipal Council, I hereby declare MONDAY, AUGUST 6th, 1979 A Civic and Public Holiday and call upon all citizens to govern themselves accordingly. Harry Worsell Mayor Mrs. R. McAllister gave a brief insight into the program and purpose of the Guelph Congress No. 79 which she attended and members hope to hear more of this at a future meeting. The offering was received and dedicated and the meeting ad- journed. Mrs. C. Edward then conducted a . brief sit- down game giving a fitting climax to the meeting after which the ladies retired .to the closed -in carport where they enjoyed a friendly visit and a social half hour with lunch served by the Social Committee, Mrs. M. Raynard and Mrs. Catherine Wilson and helpers. Mrs. Irene White thanked Mrs. McCallum for the use of her lovely home, for the picnic meeting, and her kind hospitality.
