Good health is what ..
keeps 96 -year-old John
Dahmer young.
"And I have a few
years in me yet,',' he says.
Mr. Dahmer, now a
resident of Pine Lodge
Rest Home in Lucknow,
celebrated his 96th bir-
thday at the home of his
son, John Dahmer,
Kincardine Township,
Wednesday.
"He's worked hard
too," Mr. Dahmer's son
John says.
"What you don't like
doing is hard work. I
wouldn't say I've worked
hard," Mr. Dahmer says.
He was born July 11,
1883, on the Sixth Con-
cession of Huron
Township where he
farmed until 1919. During
that time, Mr. Dahmer
spent five winters logging
in Sault Ste. Marie.
"I paid $3 to get t the
Sault by boat and $11 to
get back to Kincardine by
train," Mr. Dahmer says.
In 1912, Mr. Dahmer
married Nellie Sterling
from Bervie, who resides
in the Maitland Manor
Nursing Home •in
Goderich. She has been
there since 1978. The
-couple -celebrated their

moved to another farm on
the edge of Kincardine,
on the Dahmer Side Road
where his son John and
family live now. Mr. and
Mrs. Dahmer moved
from the farm in 1953
when they took up
