The O'Loughlin -McCann
•reunion, a celebration of the
Ancestors, took place in
Kingsbridge, the weekend of
June 23 - 24. Members
gathered from various parts
of Ontario and the United
States to commemorate their
Irish immigrant ancestors,
who settled in West Wawa-
nosharound 1860.
This year marks the 100th
anniversary of the deaths of
Bridget .Kitson, wife of Brian
who lived on the farm, lot 16,
concession 12 ' and John
McCann whose wife was Ann
Donnelly, living on the farm
lot 21, concession 9. Both
couples are buried in St.
Augustine Cemetery, Wawa -
nosh.
The weekend was planned
and organized by two great
grandchildren, Mrs. Berna-
dine (O'Loughlin) Kinney
and Father Raphael O'Lou-
ghlin, CSB 1, current1 work-
ing in Mexico City.
The program started with
an Arbor Day tree planting
ceremony at St. Joseph's
Community School, Kings-
bridge in memory of the
ancestors.
After registration .in St.
Joseph's Parish Hall on June
23, a bus tour carried the
visitors past the farms and
schools of many descendants
in Ashfield and then to
Wawanosh and St. August-
ine church and cemetery. For
most, especially the younger
generation, it..was their first
time to see the sites where
their 'ancestors pioneered.
A scheduled picnic had to
be cancelled due to the cold
weather but a gathering at
the Parish Hall allowed for
visiting and exchanging
memories. .
On Sunday, Mass was cel-
ebrated by Rev. Father
O'Loughlin with organist
Marianne Frayne and'soloist
Eugene Frayne assisting.
The dinner followed and was
served by the Catholic Wom-
en's League and the parish
Youth Group. Mary Luanne
Clare, president served and
entertained the younger
members on the school
grounds.
Father O'Loughlin and his
nephew Dan O'Loughlin of
Rochester, Michigan intro-
duced the guests and the
program which included pip-
ing before dinner and after
by pipers D. A. MacLennan
and Dave MacDonald. A wel-
come recitation was given by
Gertrude Leddy. Mary Lu-
anne Clare. gave her award
winning speech, Safe Driv-
ing.
Bob Courtney with his sax
and his wife, Joyce accom-
panying him provided music
as did Bert MacDonald's
violin selections. The Frayn-
es, Lisa dancing Irish and
Scottish .dancing, Marianne
and Gene singing a duet,
entertained. Brother Carl
Voll gave a recitation. The
McQuaid sisters of Seaforth

Mrs. Wilfred McQuaid, play-
ed violin selections and dan-
