Jo- anne Doherty, as chairlady, conducted two contests which everyone enjoyed. Pat Helsic read the address to the bride-to-be. Pat and Jo- anne O'Neill assisted Debbie in the opening oft her gifts. Debbie thanked everyone for the many lovely gifts. Lunch was served by her cousins, Joanne and Anita Doherty. On Wednesday, Carl and Fran Riegling and grand- children, Carrie and Carl, enjoyed the trip to Bramp- ton, stopping at a camp site for a picnic in Grand Valley on the way, the only cool spot on a very hot • day, then "'"continuing -on TO 13rarnpton-to- the home of the children's parents, Judy, and Bill Bel - rose and visiting with them before returning home. A miscellaneous shower was held on Wednesday, July 11 in Dungannon United Church basement for Sherry Boak, daughter of Jim and Phyliss Boak. Ruth Winter - mute was chairlady, intro- ducing those who took part in the mostenjoyable program. Frances and Melissa Logten- berg sang a duet, "Who's that in the cucumber patch with Sherry"., with Frances accompanying on the piano. Marsha Boak, Sherry's sist- er, gave a humorous reading, "He was there and so was I". Marsha also tap danced with her mother accompany- ing on the piano. Mary Luanne Clare sang "Eidel- weiss" and "Getting to know you", accompanied by Phyl- iss Boak. - the address was read by Fran Logtenberg followed by Mary Clare.play- ing "Here comes the bride". Sherry led by her attendants, proceeded to the seat of honour and opened the many lovely gifts she received. She very appropriately thanked everyone. A lovely lunch was served. Recent visitors with Susan Marshall „were Gerry Mar- shall and family of Kitch- ener. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Szyd=' lowski and family of Troy, Michigan, visited their aunt, Mrs. Bernadine Kinney. Thirty-three people travel- led by bus on Friday, July 13 to the Shrine of,Our Lady of the Rosary at St. Mary's, Ontario. Included in the group were people from God- erich, Lucknow, St. Augus- tine and Kingsbridge. Father Pat Moore and Father Ed Dentinger Concelebrated Mass at the Shrine. The statue of the Pilgrim Virgin of Fatima was on display and after lunch the Statue of Our Lady of Fatima was carried in procession around the grounds followed by the large crowd reciting the rosary: -This Shrine was built in 1958 by Father MacDonald of Scarboro Missions and there are 50 trees planted around the small Shrine to denote each bead of the Rosary. Fr. Moore has trav- elled around the world 17 times with the Virgin Satue and has reached all parts of the worlt. He has travelled for 32 years since he began this Mission. It was a won- derful outing -for all who par- ticipated. Future pilgrimage dates for this summer are August 13 to 22 inclusive. Glen Tigert, son off Jack and Rita, received his Bach- elor of Arts degree (Honours Degree) from University of Western Ontario. Lucille Frayne, daughter off Don and, Rose, graduated from Fanshawe College hav- ing completed its Mental Health Worker Program. Congratulations to these students as well as to all who success.. The home -baked goodies isappeared as fast as they came in, some buyers following the ladies bringing their baking into the hall. A lot of work, but also a lot off fun too. Marcella Courtney of God- erich, is spending her holi- days in the area. $he visited Saturday at the Ken Chester cottage at Port Albert. She is Kingsbridge graduated from the various colleges, .Diane VanRooy, daughter of John and Jean, has been named as atl tititano Scholar for her average of 80%. Congratulations to her for her fine work. Remember the Annual Parish Picnic will be held at North Ashfield Park, Sunday July 22. Marie Judge off Jackson, Michigan, and granddaugh- ter, Jody Kim Bentley are visiting the Courtney famil- ies -- Vivian Hogan and Con, Joe Courtney and Teresa, Grace Austin and John and Marcella Courtney. Joe Judge visited for the week- end with the Joe Courtney family. The garage sale held in Kingsbridge Church Hall on Saturday past wasa huge staying at her brother, John O'Connor's home in Kings- bridge, and visiting her own family and relatives. Gary Cbburtriey Construc- tion has completed erecting a pole barn on Reis Milten- burg's farm on the 9th con- cession. Interesting to drive down the 9th and see all the new homes and buildings going up and new comers to the area, living on the 9th. Jim and Kathy (Dalton) MacDonald, Julie and Shaw. na of Chilliwack, B.C. are spending two weeks with Ray Dalton and the Dalton famil- ies as well as with Mr. and Mrs. Pete MacDonald and members of their family in Lucknow. Kerry and Diane Hogan and sons Todd and Chad of Glencoe are holidaying at Con and Vivian Hogan's, Holmesville news o Kerry's parents, and visiting friends and relatives" in the area. Father Houser of St. Louis' Parish, Waterloo is spending a few days visiting at St. Joseph's Rectory with Father Ed Dentinger and Brother Carl Voll. Sunday dinner guests with Carl and Fran Riegling were Carl's niece, Debby Field and friend, David Slote of Kitchener after touring the Huron County Gaol and other tourist attractions in the area. Recent visitors with Max and Helen Riegling and four sons were Phil and Evelyn Evers of Kincardine, Darryl and Colleen Morrison of Toronto and son, Denny. Sharon McClenaghan and family of Clinton spent Fri- day with the Rieglings. Gav- in--remained-for-.-a few. -days holidays. Max, Helen and family spent Sunday visiting the McClenaghan's in Clin- ton. Matt and Ursula Rich- ardson and Laura of Goder- ich also visited at the Rieg- ling home during the week. Pat and Sam Cino and two children of Hamilton have bought a summer cottage at Port Albert, Pat is the daugh- ter of Alma (O'Brien) Steph- enson of Ingersoll and a granddaughter of the late Dan O'Brien of Goderich. Stan and Marjorie Bolger and six children of Cam- bridge -Galt from St. Pat- rick's Parish are spending summer holidays at Point Clark. Township .holds picnic On Wednesday, July 10, the Goderich Township. Recreational picnic was held in the Lakeside Park in Goderich- Township, with a good attendance and rain holding off till near eight o'clock. Bev and Charlie Orr did a very good job getting the pit going and soon everyone was putting on the various' meat to cook with the fine aroma of pork chops, steak, hamburg and hot dogs cooking, filling the air, Everyone was soon en- joying their supper. Following supper, Bert McCreath entertained on his bagpipes which was very much enjoyed by all and then Mrs. Marion Powell, in true form, got everyone on their feet and we enjoyed playing games. First was a balloon •with the ladies tying a balloon around their waist and the men getting bats of paper to hit the' balloons. Mrs. O'Brien of Goderich won this game: Then the ear ring game with four teams playing, was held and team two won. The third game saw the ladies trying to put a tie on a man- correctly and this was won by Millie Lobb and Garry Martin, all of the town- ship. Personals Bonnie and Don Lock- wood enjoyed a family get together on Sunday. From Tabur, Alberta were Don's mother Mrs. Lockwood and brother Gary Lockwood and grandmother Mrs. Filgas. Don's sisters Mr. and "Mrs. John McClin- chey of Blyth and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Carter and children of Clinton. Everyone enjoyed an out door barbecue. Clarence and Jean Perdue enjoyed the day Sunday with their son and family in London. Tom and Mary Cooke and JoyCe and Aubrey Kenagy and three children all of Sault Ste. Marie visited with Mr, and Mrs. Eldon Yeo. Mrs. Alice Porter at- tended the Federated Women's Institute of Canada in Saskatoon recently. Alice then 'flew on to visit with her daughter and son-in-law in Mission, B.C. While there, they took a trip to Powell River and the ferry to Victoria. Island and drove to the west coast of the island. They 'vi's'ited various points of'. interest along the way. Mr. 12oger MaGuire of Wallesey, England is enjoying a months visit with Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Betties. To date, they have visited Pitch Pine Lake and Ottawa. We. wish Mr. MaGuire a happy stay here in Canada. Ann and Gilbert Brand and children are happy to have in their home "Cuc" from Vietnam. Sports In mixed squirts, Benmiller and Holmesville were rained out, while Holmesville lost to Varna 10-8. The Pee Wee boys beat Goderich, while the Pee Wee Girls also beat Goderich. The Midget girls tied with Benmiller, and playoffs to start first week in August. Spending the weekelid at the Howard summer cottage at Buchanan Beach, just off highway 21, were Donna Frayn., Faye Hildebrand, Rosemary Crawford and Anne Marie Howard. Visitors at the Dirk Log- tenberg home were Ime and Lies deBoer and Paul, Dik and Klaasje Veldman and sons from the Netherlands, Mrs. Symon deBoer of Luck - now, Mr. and Mrs. Gerry Logtenberg, Huron Haven -- Village; ""GeRia and' '-Doug Dan, Guelph, and Aly and Tim Reurink enjoyed the get together. Visiting at the Walter Clare home are Mary's brother, Father Lloyd Ryan and his' housekeeper, Mrs. Laura Bolger of St. Clem- ent's Parish. Mary Luanne's weekend visitor was her friend, Marnie Menard of Newrnarket.
