Honeymoon
in Bahamas
Yellow and orange mums decorated St: George's
Anglican Church in Goderich on Saturday, June 2 for
the wedding of Sherri Lynn Atfield and Adan Hudson
Milburn,
The Reverend R. Crocker officiated at the double
ring ceremony. Steve Rieck, organist, provided music
for the ceremony.
The bride •is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd.
Atfield of Goderich and the groom Us the. son of Mr. and
Mrs. Hudson Milburn of Ben•miller.
The bride was given in marriage by her father. She
wore a gown of pearl satin featuring a full skirt and
chiffon blouson top trimmed by bands of lace. The
juliet cap headpiece was satin covered with lace
,appliques cascading into a pleated elbow length veil.
The bride. carried a bouquet of burnt orange silk
roses, mums and starflowers...•
Matron of honor was Mrs. Barb Richardson of
Goderich, friend of the bride. She wore a matching two
-piece dress of leaf green quiana featuring a blouson
top and drawstring waist. She carried a bouquet of
burnt orange silk mums -and roses an -d wore a single
flower in her hair.
Bridesmaids were Miss Sherry. Boyce of Goderich,
friend of the bride and Miss Cathy Milburn of Ben -
miller, sister of the groom. They were gowned iden-
tically to the matron of honor and carried the same
bouquets.
Best -man was Bob Pollock of Goderich, friend of the
groom.
Guests were ushered into the church by Rick
Milburn of Saltford, brother of the groom and Tim
Atfield of Goderich, brother of the bride.
The groom wore a morning suit with dark brown
jacket, fawn vest and striped trousers. The groom's
attendants wore similar directors suits. All had
boutonnieres of a single orange rose.,
Following the wedding „ceremony„ a dinner and
reception were held at the White Carnation in
Holmesville. Guests were present from Brantford-;
Ottawa, Collingwood, Sarnia, " Toronto, •Oshawa!,
Wisenson, Detroit and Chicago.
The bride'.s mother greeted guests wearing a gown
of pink jersey with a full length flowered vest accented
by.acorsage of blue roses.
The groom's mother wore a gown of jade knit,
featuring slit sleeves and a corsage of yellow roses.
During the evening, the bride's father presented the
bridal couple with a surprise honeymoon trip to
Nassau, Bahamas,
Prior to the wedding, the bride was feted at showers
.given by. Mrs. Ruth Leonard, Mrs. Helen Nicholson,
Miss Sandy Freeman, Mrs. Elaine Prouse and Mrs.
Gloria Atfield.

June nuptials
The Church of Saint John the Evangelist in Kit-
chener was the -scene of a candlelight service on the
evening of June 1 when Debra Susan Grant Madge
exchanged vows with Brian Bennett Bailey.
The bride is the daughter of the Reverend D. G. and
Mrs. Madge of Brantford, formerly of Goderich and
the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Bailey of
Waterloo.

Ceremonyand the Ven. Archdeacon Cyril Ladds
celebrated Holy Eucharist. -
I'he bride was given in marriage by her godfather,
Bruce Clifford of London. She chose a formal gown of
polyester chiffon featuring a keyhole neckline, bishop'
sleeves and an A-line skirt with watteau train. The
gown was accented with re:embroidered alecon lace
on the bodice and cuffs. The fingertip veil with blusher
was held in-place by -a juliet cap trimmed with alecon
lace.
The bride wore a pendant cross, a gift of the groom
and carrieda cascade arrangement of Sonia roses,
baby's breath and peach carnations.
Maid of honor was Andrea Dust, friend of the bride.
She wore a full length A-line gown of pale yellow
polyester with scoop neck, bell sleeves and lace -
covered bodice. -
Bridesnlaids were Diana and Dawn Madge, sisters
of the bride. They were gowned the same as the maid
of honor.
Flower girl was Melissa Hobday of Sarnia. She was
similarly attired to the senior attendants.
All of the bride's attendants carried baskets of
peach carnations, baby's breath' and peach -tipped
white roses. Each wore a single peach carnation in her
hair and each one also wore a gold locket, a gift of the
bride.
Groomsman was John Underhill of Kitchener,
friend of the groom.
- Guests were ushered into the church by Derek and
David Madge, brothers of the bride.
The groom wore a beige tuxedo with a white rose
boutonniere and his attendants wore brown 'tuxedos
with yellow rose boutonnieres.
Following the wedding ceremony, a reception was
held at the K -W Naval Association Hall in Waterloo.
Guests were present from Goderich, Sarnia, London,
Windsor, Toronto, Trenton, Hornepayne, Cambridge,
Brockville, Schreiber, the Kitchener -Waterloo area
and Michigan. A congratulatory telegram was also
received from Susan Bailey, sister of the groom, who
is currently with CARE in Niamey, Africa. •,
The bride's mother greeted guests wearing a full
length gown of Alice Blue polyester with a corsage of
pink roses and silver accessories.
The groom's mother chose a formal length coat and
dress ensemble of pale green silk knit with'beaded
bodice an orchid corsage.
For a weddi-ng trip to Quebec City, the bride choseto
wear a blue polyester silk dress with three-quarter
length cuffed, sleeves and white accessories. She also
wore a corsage of white roses and bluebells to com-
plete -the ensemble.
Upon their return from Quebec City, Mr. and Mrs.
Bailey took up residence in Kitchener.
Prior to the wedding, thedbride was feted at a shower
given in her honor by Mrs. D. Eby, Mrs. D. Snider and
Mrs. G. Thompson at the home of Mrs. D. Eby.
Showers were also.held by Andrea Dust at the home of
Mrs. A. Dust and by the bride's co-workers at Frito-
Lay Canada Limited of Kitchener.
John Underhill arranged a bachelor dinner in honor
of the groom. A presentation was also made to the
groom by his co-workers at Lear Seigler Industries
Limited of Kitchener.

A special meeting of
the Goderich Branch of
the Women's Institutes,
was held in MacKay Hall
ori July 5.
The meeting undertthe

Tweedsmuir History, was
held in order to give the
membersan opportunity
to examine the three
history books and the
scrap books which were
begun in 1977, after the
Sesquicentennial.
The Tweedsmuir
History Books w .were
started in 1947 on the 50th
anniversary of 'the
founding of -the Women's
Institutes. A suggestion
by Lady Tweedsmuir,
when she was in Canada
from 1935 to 1940, that the
Smile...

Curators held recently in
Waterloo, which was
attended by 600 Curators
from across the province.
Birthday greetings
were sung for four ladies
with •Mrs. L. Bannister
receiving roses for the
birthday nearest July 5.
The rollcall - "The first
owner of our home" was
answered by 20 ladies.
After a most pleasant
afternoon, the members
sat down to a bountiful
picnic lunch.
