Well — wasn't that
some weekend! I can't
remember
weekend

weather.
it didn't
completely stop the
Maitland members,
be use there- was lots of
action down there,
particularly on the tennis --
courts.
The first half of the
tennis playdoWrns . were
held on Sunday ''and
Monday, which, turned
out to be a beautiful day,.
saw the final results
being confirmed,
Mer„'s Champion is Bob
Dick --whey defeated Paul
Brown in an excellent
match, best two out of
three. Men's Consolation
winner is Bill Shewfelt
over Andrew Tolchard.
Lucie - Turcotte
defeated last year's
lady's champion.,
Margaret Conlon, to
become Lady's Cham-
pion in a, really exciting
set best two out of three,
Shelagh- Sully won out
over Lori Hassall for
Lady's Consolation
winner.
These matches were
sponsored by Brian
Warrilow of Garb & Gear.
On Sunday, 1.1 hardy

lowering skies for an
afternoon of couples' golf,
with a barbecue supper
afterwards — John Kane,_
Master Chef, presiding.
First prize went to
Shelagh. Sully and Jack
Hinton. Second prize to
Verna Kane and Bob -
McDougall with Pat.
Jewell and Bill McKellar
vieing for prize as most
honest golfers. •
Next twosome af-
ternoon will be held on. -
Sunday, July 15- same

miss it, it sounds like fun.

for the field. Last but not
least, Jean Fla y came in
third low netin her flight.
Men's night will be held
on Thursday due to
holiday 'on Monday.
There were a number of
men down on Monday
getting those matches
played off. My partner
and I happened to be
following the foursome of
Gould and Kane playing
against the brothers
Murphy, Pat and Mike.
This was a match of
experience versus youth,
and youth won out:
Brissette and Duncan
went down before the pair
of Hanly and MacEwan.
A certain gent (who
shall remain nameless)
wants to apologize to the
tennis players for driving
his ball into the tennis
courts in the middle of a
_game. It certainly was.n't
