Presbyterian ladies
keep separate group
Even though Knox
Presbyterian Church in
Auburn amalgamated
with Knox Presbyterian
Church in Goderich in
1971, the Auburn
Women's Missionary
Society kept a separate
identity of their own.
The WMS goes back
almost as far as the first
Presbyterian Church in
Auburn. In 1918, Miss
Mary Fingland (Mrs.
Greerson) was sent by
the WMS to be a
missionary in Korea.
The group still keeps
informed on and supports
missionary work around
,the world. There are
eight Auburn ladies in the
WMS. President is Mrs.
Wilfred Sanderson; vice-
president is Mrs. Eleanor
Bradnock; treasurer is
Mrs. Francis Clark and
Lilian Letherland is
secretary.
The ladies- take a turn
catering to the Lions Club
in Auburn. Their •
meetings include a Bible
study and mission topics.
Chapel is for everyone
The Huron Christian
Men's Association bought
the former Knox
Presbyterian Church., in
Auburn in the spring of
1971.
Services would be held
on Sunday evenings or
week -day evenings. The
aims and objectives were
to invite speakers from
all denominations as well
as singers to participate
in the meetings.
The first service in the
Huron Men's Chapel was
held on July 4, 1971, and a
Presbyterian minister,
Reverend T. McKinney of
Teeswater, spoke at the
service.
The present minister is
the Reverend James
Good, of Blyth.
