Prayers were taken by Mrs. Donald Cartwright: The theme for the meditation was "Jesus is the Way." This was read alternately from the Living Message. A reading was given by Mrs. Ed Davies and the hymn, Lo the voice of Jesus said. The president, Mrs. Donald Cartwright presided for the business period. The minutes of the previous meeting were accepted as read by the secretary, Mrs. John Daer. The financial statement was .given by the treasurer, Mrs. Torn Haggitt. A good time was had•by MINISTER PREACHES FAREWELL SERMON Rev. Earl St Jean preached his farewell sermon last Sunday morning in Knox United Church with the theme - The search for meaning of Baptism. Anita Gross also presented a gift. Mr. Bean read an address to both thanking them for their leadership the past three years and Mrs. Kenneth McDougall presented a purse •of money. Both thanked everyone for the gift. SOFTBALL The softball committee meeting was held last Thursday, June 21. A decision was made that no one should be playing beyond June 28 that has not paid their $6. or $3. registration fee. About 15 players have not paid their fee. June 11, Auburn Ladies defeated Benmiller 14 to 13; June 18, they also won over Londesboro 33-22. The next game is June 25 in Blyth. The Auburn Midgets won over Benmiller Wednesday June 20 but it seemed to require some help in an uncompleted game. This coming week, Holmesville Midgets play at Auburn Friday June 30 at 7 p.m. for the 125th birthday party, Wed- nesday July 4 - Auburn Midgets travel to Lon- desboro. On the same night the Auburn Pee Wees play in Benmiller. Then Thur- sday 'd'tsly 5 Auburn Ladies play •Summerhill in Londesboro, BRIDE FETED Miss Karen McClin- chey was guest of honour at a bridal shower held last Tuesday evening in Eleanor Bradnock, correspondent 526-7595 the Sunday school room of Westfield Fellowship church. Her grand- mother, Mrs. Sidney McClinchey played piano instrumentals while the guests were arriving at the lovely decorated ro. Mrsom. Arnold Cook was the mistress of ceremonies and welcomed the large crowd of relatives, friends and neighbours. Glenyce McClinchey played a piano solo - `A Time for Us' and Mrs. Brenda Huizinga sang a solo - `All our Lives', accompanied by Mrs. Tom Cunningham. A reading in costume was done by Mrs. Doreen Taylor, 'Your beauty treatment for today'. Karen won two contests and was presented with gifts. Mrs. Arnold Cook gave a reading - 'My grown-up Son' and Glenyce. McClinchey played a solo "True Love.' The bride was called to the decorated chair and also her mother, Mrs. Lloyd McClinchey and the groom's mother, Mrs. Ronald Taylor and the maid of honour Miss Sandra McClinchey. Mrs. Arnold Cook read a poem, 'On Your Wedding Day' and Mrs. Corie Wallace read the address of congratulations. Janet. Cook placed the bows on a veil. After opening her many gifts, Karen thanked everyone for their gift and for all the best wishes. Lunch was served by the Westfield and Walkerburn ladies.
