Scoop

St. Mary's track meet
was held on Wednesday,
June 6, The winners of the
first and second ribbons
and also some thirds
travelled to Wingham on
Tuesday June 12th to
compete in the zone track
meet.
The day was a success
and almost all of the
students actively took
part.
The Reverend A.F.
Loebach celebrated his
32nd yearin the
priesthood last week. He
has been with us for two
years: Father celebrated
Mass at the school on his
anniversary.
The school newspaper
editors had a coloring
contest for the kin-
dergarten and Grades
one and two. The winner
of the kindergarten
division was Jimmy
Craig. The winner of the
Grades one and two was
Janet Sherratt.
The editors of the paper
also had a contest to see
who could draw the best
cover for the next edition.
Mary Teresa O'Neil of
Grade eight wasthe
winner.
Winners were awarded
ribbons and their work is
on display in the school. -

parts.
Bruno the beagle meets
animals and adventures
of all sorts as he wanders
freely in I am a Puppy.
Once again Miriam
Cohen and Lillian Hoban
depict their loves for first
graders in their new book
Lost in the Museum. Jim,
the hero of such favorite
books -as Will I Have a
Friend?, When Will I
Read?, doesn't like the
enormous dinosaur one
bit! But he proves his
bravery when he
volunteers to find the
teacher and reunite the
lost group with the rest of
the class.
Author Peggy Parish
also knows gentle
humour is certain to win
the' hearts of any
beginning reader. Miss
Molly wakes up with a
string tied around her
finger and sees a note on
her calendar which says,
"Be Ready at Eight". But
for. what? You'll be in
stitches from 9 a.m. to 8
p.m. when a delighted
Miss Molly discovers why

What eight-year-old
hasn't wanted a dog for a
