was the guest speaker at
the 1979 District Annual
meeting of Huron West
Women's Institutes when
they met

The president, Mrs.
Graham McNee of
Dungannon, was in
charge and the pianist
was Mrs. Sarah Storey.
After the opening, Mrs.
Bert McCreath, president
of the host branch,
Goderich Township, gave
a warm welcome to all
delegates and guests.
Mrs. Richard Buchanan
of Tiger Dunlop Branch,
the district secretary,
read the minutes and
gave , the financial
statement. Mrs. Donald
Riehl, one of the auditors,
gave her report.
Mrs. McNee gave her
president's message. She
stated that she had
visited nearly all of the 12
branches and thanked all
for their co-operation and
support. She spoke on the
theme, •Building for
Tomorrow, in connection
with the International
Year of the Child,
Mrs. William Porter,
F.W.I.O. BoardDirector,
ratified !the 12 district
directors. They were:

John Anderson; Blyth -
Mrs. Luella McGowan;
Clinton -Mrs. Cecil
Elliott; Dungannon -Mrs.
Elmer Black; Goderich-

Londesboro-Mrs. Bert
Shobbrook; Maitland -
Mrs. Betty Belanger; St.
Helens -Mrs. Peter
Chandler; Tiger Dunlop -
Mrs. Earl Sherwood; and
Wingham-Mrs. " Robert
Powell.
. Musical • numbers on
the violin, were given. by
Miss Edna Driver ac-
companied on the piano
by Mrs. ' Celia Taylor,
both of Goderich.
Mrs. Norman Coultes, •
public relations officer of
Belgrave, gave her
report and spoke of her
interesting display
featuring the Inter-
national Year of the
Child.
Mrs. William Porter
reported on the work at
Federated Wom.en's
Institutes of Ontario and
emphasized the Erland
Lee Home Foundation
Fund which they wish to
have set up by 1980. She
spoke on the resolutions
and Stated that if
members do not like the
programs on the TV, they
should be their own
censors and turn them
off. She encouraged girls
to apply for the various
scholarships that are now
available. As this is her,
,last year as a Board
'Director, she thanked all
for their support.
The report of the
nominating committee
was given by Mrs.
Eleanor Bradnock. Mrs.
Bea Gosselin, home
economist, presided for
the election of officers
and installed them. •
Mrs. Gosselin brought'-
, greetings froin the
Ministry of Agriculture
and Food and told of the
increased interest in 4-H
programs and also in
senior projects such as
the needlepoint course
when 1,000 completed the
samplers.
Mrs. Leona Lockhart of
Clinton gave her
• resolutions report and
M4•ss Fern Cole of
Agricrew spoke of her
work in Perth and Huron
Counties designed to help.
farmers with five to a
crew.
The smorgasbord
dinner was served by they
ladies of Holmesville
United Church. The
welcome to the church
was .. given by the
Reverend John
Oestreicher and Mrs.
Peter Chandler of St.
Helens introduced the
