Pools Paradise. cast -looks
great in season's opener
James Murphy,
Artistic Director of the
Huron Country
Playhouse, announced
recently the cast of Pools
Paradise, the first show
of the new 1979 season.
A British farce by
Philip, King, Pools
Paradise is something of
a sequel to, "See How
They ' Run", the
tremendous hit from the
1977 season.
Like "See How They
Run", the play is a
fanciful bit of farce in-
tended to produce a
maximum amount: of
amusement. Its setting is
the same Merton-cum-
Middlewick Vicarage.
The action centres
around the Reverend
Lionel Toop's wife,
Penelope, who dabbles in
a football pool with the
help of Ida, the maid, and
Willie, Ida's suitor.
Complications.,,,; ensue
when the threes':yine win--
or think they win" 200,000

scene too, are the in-
famous Miss Skillon,-the

irrepressable Penelope
Toop will be Trudy
Cameron. Miss Cameron
has appeared in leading
theatres across the
country,' including
Stratford, the Manitoba

Swimming tips
Know the water
The Canada Safety
Council notes an increase
of 23 percent in deaths
attributed to swimming
accidents in the latest
available national
drowning statistics. A
total of 189 deaths
resulted from swimming
in 1977 and the Council
urges all swimmers to
keep this fact in mind and
heed basic safety rules.
Learning to swim is the
first practical step
towards water safety.
Enquire about swimming
courses in the neigh-
bourhood. Even good
swimmers know their
limitations and don't take
risks.
Swimming areas
should be chosen
carefully. Before wading,
swimming or diving in an
unfamiliar place find out
the depth of the water and
whether there are hidden
rocks, strong currents or
sudden drop-offs.
Observe and obey all
warning'signs.
Swimmers and' non-
swimmers alike should
never be alone in the
water. Swim with a
partner, preferably one
skilled in lifesaving. Non-
swimmers should confine
bathing to shallow, safe
waters. Even a good
swimmer should swim
reasonably close to shore.
