week. This convention
Was highlighted by the
attendance of Judge
George Thompson,
Associate •Deputy

Ministry of Community
and Social. Services.
Donald is Regional
Director for the Western
Region of the Ontario
Association for Coun-
selling and Attendance
Services. The 1980 con-
vention will be held at the
Carleton University at
Ottawa.
A Community Choir is
planned to lead the
singing at the Open -Air
Church Service to be held
on Sunday July 1 at 11
a.m. Mrs. Florence
Wightman has called a
practise on Sunday
evening at 8 p.m. in the
Sunday school room of
Knox United Church. All
are welcome so please
come out and give your
support.

Hamilton spent a few
days last week with her
mother Mrs. • Vera La
Vigne at Windsor. Mrs.
La Vigne and her sister
Mrs. Laura Bennett of
Detroit returned home
with them for a few
weeks' visit.

Gorge last Sunday. They

received her degree of

reception followed at the

and relatives.
Miss Brenda Fellows of
Goderich was guest of
honour at a bridal shower
at the home of Miss Tracy
Ward. The guest of
honour was seated in a
decorated chair and
Wendy Powell was
chairman for a ,program
of contests. The winner of
the• elimination contest
was Mrs. Jim Fellows.
Mrs. Rick Sleeman of
Wingham conducted
contests and the winners
were Mrs. Dave Warr,
Mrs. Elmer Trommer
and -Mrs. Gordon Powell.

Rodger. After opening
the gifts, Brenda thanked
her friends and relatives.
Brenda's mother and the
groom's mother, Mrs.
Powell assisted in
opening the many gifts.
Lunch was served by the
hostess Tracy Ward.
AUBURN WMS
The. Auburn
Presbyterian Women's
Missionary Society met
for its June meeting at
the home 'of Mrs. Roy
Daer with the president
Mrs. Wilfred Sanderson
in charge. -
A report on the Huron
Presbyterial was given
by Mrs. Eleanor Brad -
nock and an invitation to
attend - the special
meeting at Goderich
Knox Church on June 18
at 6:30 p.m. The offering
was received by Mrs. Roy
Daer and dedicated with
prayer by Mrs. San-
derson. The study was
taken by Mrs. Sanderson
who read The Church
among the Bhil People
written by Margaret
Kennedy.
Roll call was answered
by a Bible verse con-
taining the word - Father.
Plans were made to hold
the next meeting on July
11 at the home of Mrs.
Frank Raithby. The
devotional period will be
in charge of Mrs. Roy
Daer and the study will
be in charge of Mrs.
Frances Clark. Lunch
was served by Mrs. Roy
Daer.
VILLAGE NEWS
The Auburn Trustees
met for their June
meeting in the town hall
with their chairman
Warner Andrews
presiding. The trustees
were pleased with the
new aluminum door
installed and a lock will
be placed on the riew
door. Mr. Andrews spoke
of the resurfacing of the
river hill and mentioned
the storm sewers were
installed and the grass
has been cut on the hill
and will be again before
the end of June to prepare
for Auburn's 125th bir-
thday party. A new stop
sign will also be placed at
the hill. The new lights
were discussed and plans
were made to replace the
venetian blinds on the
town hall. The Clerk was
asked to write a letter to
Mayor Sanborn of
Auburn Michigan from
the Trustee Board in-
viting them to our bir-
thday party and .to take
part in the parade.

members thanked Mrs.

Lions Club convention
held in Niagara. Falls.
Two new road signs are to
be installed soon. June 27
will be an executive
meeting at the home of
President Bud. The next
meeting will _be Ladies'
Night and will be a
barbecue.

Ladies defeated Blyth 22
to 12. Visiting Auburn,
June 7, Summerhill also
met defeat 14 to 7.
Joanne Van Arnersfoort
finally made the big
connection for 'her first
home run. Stephanie Van
Amersfoort's hot bat is
still alive. June 25 the
