" Harry Bosnell says this popular event will be a regular feature at the jail every Sunday this summer as it was last summer. There is no shortage of buyers - all that is required are vendors. If you have something to sell and think -the flea market might be the spot, call 524-6971 for further details. By the way, the jail is now open daily from 10 am to 5:30 pm. County Council okays more planning help Huron County Council has ' authorized the planning board to look into hiring or contracting .„.an additional staff member to work on zoning bylaws. This staff member would be a junior person, according - to planning director Gary Davidson. Davidson said the planning department has been'. working on secondary plans but the zoning bylaws are just not getting done. "Municipalities that have had their secondary plans done for some time are finding it more and more difficult to im- plement thoseplans without the zoning bylaws," said Davidson. away. -• • An extra body was Name Huron's land registrar David Hill has been named land registrar for ,Huron County, the Minister of Consumer and Commercial Relations recently an- nounced. Frank Drea said that Mr. Hill, currently land registrar in Lindsay, will begin his job in the Goderich office in July. Mr. Hill, 35, has been with the ministry's property rights division since 1966 when he. became senior ' deputy land registrar in Strat- ford. From 1973 to 1976 he was land registrar in Alexandria. The 65 land registry offices maintain records on real estate ownership across the province. Mr. Hill replaces Jim Lindsay who recently resigned. Foreign ownership of farmland was a topic at a uron of- AT eetiing Thursday. Merle Gunby, president of the Huron F of A told members . that the Ontario F of A has checked into several of the farms involved in the foreign ownership issue. "Huron instigated a fuss over this and now maybe , we should look into having the Rural Development Outreach. Project have some research done on the problem." Agriculture Minister William Newman earlier in the week said he doesn't see any reason, based on statistics his department has unear- thed, to take action to halt the spread of foreign ownership. John Van Beers recommended that the study should involve the impact of foreign ownership in the county. A motion was passed to ask the RDOP to consider a request to do a study on the effects of foreign ownership on farm land in Huron County.
