Maitland ladies play Kincardine
As I sit and type this
write-up, Tuesday, June 5
I look out the window and
think, "What lousy
weather fbr ladies' golf
night!" However, you
never can tell -- last
Tuesday was the same. It
poured in the morning
and we still managed to
play in the late afternoon
and evening.
Seventeen ladies
braved the lowering skies
to play and some nice
scores were turned in.
Hazel Beaver, took top
honours in the first flight,
with Gerry Mountford
coming close behind.
Maxine Martin took the
least number of putts.
Second flight winner
was Bud Elliott, followed
by Jean Hanly. The
putting prize went to
Ardith Brissette (with
one four -putt green in-
cluded, yet!) Grace
Neville was low net in
third flight, and Chris
Hoffmeyer won the•
putting prize. Gail Bet-
tger and Sally Walker
won low net and putting
respectively in fourth
flight. Hazel Beaver shot
closest to the hole on first.
Nice golfing Hazel.
Six ladies from
Maitland travelled to
Kincardine on May 31 for
the first Inter -Club Match
of the year. We didn't
exactly cover ourselves
with glory, but neither
did we fall flat on our
respective faces. Jean
Hanly was a prize-winner
in her flight and the rest
Q us came close! The
n'''ext Inter -Club match
takes place at Sunset on
Thursday, June 28 so let's
try to get some of thost
points back girls.
Men's night Monday
was played under
threatening skies and
only 26 turned out. I think
we had better get used to
rainy weather because it
seems to me as though
it's shaping up into that
kind of summer. I hope I
am wrong!

second place in the
Maitland Division with
French. Both teams have
won four games and lost

scoreless innings of ball
before Gords struck for a
run in`the top of the sixth.
With one out Jon Ginn
smacked a triple and
scored on Phil Petri's
single.
But Lakeport put
together three of their six
hits in the game, in the
bottom of the sixth inning
to produce three runs.
With two out and the
bases loaded Mathers
nailed a single to score
the tying and winning
run.
Brian MacKenzie went
the 'distance in the win for
Lakeport allowing one
run on five hits while
striking out three batters.

Fishers only Dunlop
team to salvage a victory
Fisher Custom
Builders were the only
Dunlop Division team to
win a game last week as
they dumped league
rivals, Gords Sports 5-1.
The win was the third of
the season for 1- Fisher
against three losses •and
leaves them tied for
second place with Gords
with six points. Graham
Electric leads the
division with seven points
in six games.. .
Fisher did all their
scoring in the fifth inning,
combining three errors
and four hits to score five
runs. Jack MacKinnon,
John Hoy and Gerry
Durst with singles and
Barry Bloch with, a
double provided the run
scoring hits.
Fishers had only five
hits in the game, four in
the fifth inning. Only
Jack MacKinnon
managed.. two hits in the
game.
Fred Pellow turned in a
fine one -hitter and that
hit, a sixth inning single

inning with a walk, ad-
vanced on an error and
scored on Girr's single.
