Silver Tops invite new mem
The Auburn Silver
Tops, New Horizon
project, received their
cheque last Friday to
carry out the various
activities they plan for
this coming season.
President, Ross
Robinson, called the
meeting and directors
present were, Kenneth
Scott, vice-president,
Mrs. Thomas Haggitt,
secretary, Mrs. Eleanor
Bradnock, treasurer and
Mrs. Lillian
Letherland, Mrs. Myrtle
Munro, James Towe, Roy
Daer and Major
Youngblut. Mrs. Donald
Haines and Mrs. Dorothy
Grange were absent.
The membership is $5
per year so the mem-
bership will be $2.50 and
will start July • 1. Mem-
berships can -be given to
the treasurer any time
during the month of June.
Anyone 60 years and
over are invited to join
and tate _ part in thp_
projects and en-
tertainment as there are
many things that are in
the planning 'stage.
SOUVENIRS
The Auburn 125th birth-
day Souvenirs shop will
be "open next Saturday,
June 9 in the Auburn
Variety Store - on
Goderich Street from 10
a.m. to 5 p.m. This will be
in the charge of Mrs.
Allan Craig and Mrs.
Fred Lawrence with
helpers. Come out early
and get your souvenir
before they are all gone.

Knox United Church
Sunday school had a
special guest, Mr. Harold
Vodden of Blyth,, to speak
at their open. session on
Faith in Miracles. He and
Mrs. Vodden and his
leader dog, Chipper,
showed the film made at
Rochester, New York on
Leader Dogs. He spoke on
his own life since blin-
dness came to him and
answered many
questions.
He was introduced by,
the Sunday school
superintendent, Barry
Millian and thanked by
Anita Hallam and
presented with a gift. - --

party planning meeting
held last Wednesday
evening in the Auburn

charge.
Elaine Craig discussed
,ribbons for committee
chairmen and she
reported that she had
ordered 24 dozen T-shirts
and that they will be
available in another
week. She also reported
on a costume rental shop
in London. If anyone is
interested, please give
Elaine a ring. •
The members voted to
purchase three gross of
kazoos for children to
buy. Elaine played a solo
on one that she had
-receiveditr a sample
Sandy Andrews
reported that he had
made the parking signs
and stated that Auburn's
main street, Goderich
Street, would be closed to
traffic from 12:30 to 4
p.m. or in other words,
after the parade.
Chairman Bill Sproul
reported on sports. A ball
game with the 1964 ball
members playing against
the local team will be
held. Also ladies ball
teams will be playing.
Great interest is showrr
in the tug-of-war between
the four townships.,
Hullett, Colborne, East
and West Wawanosh.
Chairman of program
and church service,
Donald Haines, gave a
few details and stated
that the Saturday evening
would be two hours in
length. William S. Craig
of Clinton is to be the
Master of Ceremonies.
Chairman of food
booths, Leone Robertson, -
reported that most of the
supplies had been or-
dered.
Chairman Jim
Glousher of the grounds
committee was;,asked to
find out about installing
the dance floor down at
the Maitland flats.
Bill Robertson was
asked to be convenor in
charge of the Friday and
Saturday evening dances.
A'discussion took place
regarding the souvenir
hats that are to be on
sale. The committee
reported that there will
be 1,000 hats with yellow
ribbon and green letters.
The next meeting is
called for June 13 at 8
p.m.

WALKERBURN CLUB
The Walkerburn Club
held its monthly meeting
at the home of Mrs.
Thomas Cunningham.'
Mrs. Ronald Gross
opened the meeting with
a reading and 0 Canada.
Mrs. Lloyd Penfound led
in prayer. -'
The minutes of the
previous meeting were
accepted as read by the
secretary, Mrs. Lloyd
Penfound. The --roil call-
was answered by 12
members and there were
four guests. They an-
swered by naming th.eis
favorite flower and in-
troducitig the guest they
had invited.
The treasurer, Mrs.
Garth McClinchey, gave
the financial report and
stated that the support of
.the foster child was paid
up to the end of July.
The prize donated by
Mrs. Ted Honking was
won by Mrs. Elliott Lapp.
A thankyou note was
read from Mrs. Shirley
Norman.

the home of Mrs. Roy
Daer on June 21 at 2 p.m.
Members are reminded
of the change of date. The

A short discussion took
place regarding the float
for Auburn's 125th bir-
thday party parade.
A successful sale of
plants and bulbs took
place with Mrs. Thomas
Cunningham as auc-
tioneer. Interesting
contests were held by
Mrs. Ronald Gross and
Mrs. • Lloyd Penfound.
Two door prizes were won
by Mrs. Ted Hunking and
Mrs. Keith Lapp.'
Lunch was served by
Mrs. Marian Hunking
and Mrs. Leonard
Archambault assisted by
the hostess, Mrs. Thomas
Cunningham.

The Early Bird Draw of
the Auburn and District
Lions Club lottery took
place last Wednesday
evening at a meeting held
at the home of the
president, Bud Chamney.
