STAR, THURSDAY, MAY 17, 1979 Elect Ann Sprung There were 44 mem- bers of the Ladies' Legion Auxiliary out for the annual election of officers which was conducted recently by Branch executive member, Bob Chapman. Those elected were: president, Ann Sprung; first' vice- president, Sharon Scruton; second •vice- president, Mona Davis: recording secretary. Grace Mugford; corresponding secretary, Edna Powell; treasurer, Marie LeBlanc; Sergeant -at -arms, Dorothy Clements;• Standard Bearer, Phylis Million; Color Bearer, Helena Young (alternate, Kathleen Langille) ; executive committee, Iris Sampson, Marian Hays, - Laura McLarty, Esther Blackwell, Lorraine Jones, Evelyn Carroll and Kay McAstocker and sports officer, Marian Hays. Plans were made for a busy month• of banquets and for the auxiliary's special birthday party next month. President Ann reported that there are now 193 members, in her account of the Zone Rally held last" u week at Seaforth. The door prize was won by Bessie Bisset and the gaystery prize by Helena Young. A donation was voted to the Salvation Army. New Playhouse staff The staff of the Huron Country Playhouse is beginning to swell with the arrival last Monday of four .young men and vOhmen on the Ontario Career Action Program. They will all be filling important and deman- ding • positions for the Playhouse. Mathilda Martens, a native of Dashwood, is already busy selling tickets at the box office for the coming season. She is a graduate of the University of Guelph, and most recently graduated from--Elboth.. Teachers' College, London. Mark Cole, . originally from Woodstock, , at- tended the University of Western Ontario. He -is a production, trainee, working in the Technical areas of the Theatre, including carpentry and lighting. Ken Lefebvre from Brantford will serve as publicity assistant. His duties include theatrical' display and promotion for -the Huron Country Playhouse. Mr. Lefebvre attended the University of Waterloo and the' University of Calgary as a Theatre Arts Major. Marc Quinn of Waterloo will be Director of Operations. His duties include , administration training, budgeting and overseeing concessions, maintenance and house management. Mr. Quinn is a Drama graduate. from the University q Waterloo. He was tlfe founder and producer of the Twin City Youth Theatre in Wateri o - Kitchener. James Murphy, Artistic Director of the Playhouse, said, "These young people will have the opportunity to learn every aspect of a professional theatre season from the earliest preparations to the last closing night". For Mr. Quinn, Mr. Lefebvre and Mr. Cole, it will be a particularly close association, as they will be living in the old farm house on the Playhouse' grounds.
