season and Sunday's game
saw Dungannon defeat Port
Albert by a 15 - 11 score.

ladies' grandmother, Mrs.
Freenie Dilworth on Mon-
day, May 7 in her 89th year.

who passed away on Tues-
day, May 8 at Stratford
General Hospital in her 77th
year. Mrs. Popp had been a
resident of Dungannon for
many years prior to moving

Mission, British Columbia on
Monday; May '7th in his 93rd

The Sacrament of Baptism
was held on the Christian
Fam ly Sunday with •six in-
fants being presented for

Judy Draper; Karen Joy
Hodges, daughter off Clare
and Bonnie Hodges, of Strat-
ford; Kelly Lynn McNee,

Blake, daughter of Bill and
Pat Blake of Cambridge; and
Diana Lynn Anderson,
daughter of Mr. and - Mrs.
Barry Anderson.
Rev. C. G. Westhaver
spoke on the topic, "Mother-
hood - its crosses and
crown". The choir sang the
anthems, "The Church of
Long ago," and "Lily of the
Valley", led by organist Mrs.
Jean Elliott. Helen Elliott
sang a solo, "May the Good
Lord Bless and Keep You".

church in memory of Mrs. A.
Popp, a former active mem-
ber and Sunday School teach-
er of Dungannon United

CHURCH
The children of the Sunday
School put on a brief pro
gram during the church
service on Sunday morning
in honour of their mothers.
The Beginners gave ques-
tions and answers in a
selection called "A Mother's
Day Quiz", The Primary
class presented an acrostic
named "Letters of Love",
while the Juniors asked the
question "What Can I Do?"
The Junior High class led
the congregation in singing
"Faith of our Mothers" with
Sharon Frey at the piano.
A Primary pupil, Walter
Martin, played the offertory
number on the piano, and
Kenny Strong recited a poem
relating to this special day.
Paul Strong acted as M.C. •
Following the program each
mother was called upon to
receive a carnation corsage
presented by her youngest
child in Sunday School.
Pastor Lawrence chose
various passages of scripture
relating to Christian Family
Day, and themothers' im-
portant role in;the raising of
children in a Christian home,

was an impressive ceremony
with Father Dentinger con-
ducting tie service. The
school children sang and
Nancy Park, music teacher at
St. Joseph's sang a solo at
Communion. the nine Com-
municants did the readings
along with their teacher,
Barb Eedy and at the end of
the mass the children were
presented with gifts from
Fran Riegling, on behalf of
St. Joseph's CWL,, Kings-
bridge; Margaret MacDon-
K of C say "thanks''
The Saltford Valley
Hall was the scene last
Saturday of the annual
police appreciation night
sponsored by 'District 31
of the Knights of
Columbus. District
Deputy. Pat , .Osbo.rn.•.
hosted the evening, which
had representation from
every police force, in-
cluding OPP, city and
town units present from
an area including
Stratford to Goderich and
all points in between.
The invitation to the
forces was sent out by
Stratford, Seaforth and
Goderich Knights of
Columbus. During Police
Week, all are pleased to
wear the buttons which
say "Cops are Tops" and
remind ourselves to be
appreciative of the
protection we ,as citizens
receive.
Brother Eugene
Frayne of- the Goderich
Council addressed the
gathering of about 150
couples of police and
Knights, reminding all of
their - responsibility to
society in upholding the
laws, and he extended to
the police and their wives
a warm welcome.
The music was superb
and the dance floor was
filled to capacity with,
every selection as the
police and Knights
squired their partners
around the floor. All owe
a vote of thanks to the
wives of the Goderich
Knights who provided a
delightful lunch to all the
people present. By
hosting this annual event,
the Knights pledge their
support to the police
forces and hope they in
turn will call upon us in
time of need.

year.
Ray Dalton has been re-
leased from hospital in Pick-
ering and is convalescing at
the home of his sister, Mrs.
Margaret. O'Connor.. in Pick-
ering.
