Everyone is looking forward to a great golfing season this year. Let's hope we all can break par. The weatherman finally pulled through with a gorgeous. sunny warm Monday. We hope -the warm temperatures continue straight through the golfing season. As they say,. "Better late than never". Men's NUte got off to a good start last week with Randy Miller winning low. gross for the night. First flight winners were: Gerry Mero and Bob Greer. Second flight was won by Dale Mat- thies. Other winners in the flight were . Mike Russelo, Fred,.. Jewel and Bob Soak. Pete Teichert wan the third flight division with Mel Bogie winning second, Cliff Kennedy third and fourth, Gary Chambers. The men have a very interesting schedule lined up for the coming season with a special Men's Field Day arranged for one Sunday a month egin active $eason of golf during the season. These events usually involve a super pancake breakfast or a brunch with eighteen holes of golf and fellowship. Legion representative Walter Sheardown said it would be more feasible to make Stanley a one-way street off Elgin Avenue and allow 32 angle parking spots. Angle parking could be ac- comodated by removing the boulevard. A Stanley Street resident opposed the suggestion claiming severi trees have been removed from the street without replacements already and that the proposed scheme would necessitate the removal of another tree. He added that the Legion has had options on propertiesin the area that would have been suitable for parking lots. The party will start with a mixed two -ball event at four o'clock and a pot luck supper to follow. These events were always,well attended last year with Iots of fun, good food and prizes. So come out. to mens, ladies, and two -ball events to meet the old and new members for 79.
