At a regular meeting Monday, council rescinded an earlier motion in which the town was to seek- a 10 -year, $125,000 debenture ,,on behalf of the PUC finance the building of the station. Now the` 'to'wn will finance the major portion of the cost from a reserve fund at an interest rate of 10 per cent. The town has received verbal approval from the OMB to loan $73,000 to the PUC over a five year period. The PUC will make annual payments of $18,525.60 to the town. The town does not need Ontario Hydro approval to make the loan since 'it will not have . to seek external financing. The PUC requires the substation to provide adequate electrical service to the town during peak load periods and in case of another station breakdown. Reeve Eileen Palmer said the increase . was unfortunate since council had finalized the budget. The increase would mean that council would have to pay an additional $3,000 for hydrant ser- vice.
