classes involved and their
projects are as follows:
In the primary grades,
Mrs. Brown's Grade 2
class is doing Goderich.
The students brought in
souvenirs, maps, and
pictures of Goderich. The
class brainstormed for
ideas of what makes
Goderich unique. The
class thought of 23 dif-
ferent reasons so each
studentmade a picture
and a story on what they
thought of and, displayed
them outside the
classroom.
In the juniorgj,:ddes,
Mrs. Pare's Grade 5-6
classis making a display
of . Saskatchewan— and
mounting it inside the
classroom. Each student
received a subject to do
from the early settlers to
the future to the gover-
nment. The class has
been working hard and it
should turn out good.
In the senior wing, Mr.
Hanna's Grade 7 class is
doing a display on New
Brunswick for outside of
the classroom. The
students are doing
paintings and com-
positions about the
province. Other classes
have displays about other.
provinces.
Education Week should
be fun for everyone in-
volved.
Be safe now
In 1976, accidents killed_
x,293 children under 1.5 in
Canada, with traffic,
drowning and suffocation
claiming -the three
highest number of
fatalities.
With timely action,
most of these deaths
could have been
prevented.
May 1-7 is Child Safety
Week and the Canada
.Safety Council urges you
to make it a week of
thought and planning so
that this bleak picture'
can be brightened.
Accidents are the
great"threat to the
lives and limbs of
children and more of
them die because of

combined. Many more
are seriously injured
permanently disabled.
Medicine can im-
munize children against
some diseases and
prevent many others, but
parents and educators
must immunize children
against accidents
'through protection and
education.
1979 has been
proclaimed International
0Year of .the Child by the
United Nations. It is -also
the 20th anniversary of
the Declaration of Rights
of the Child.
