Council approved ac-
counts totalling $23,692.51
for payment when it met
on April 3 in regular
session.
A representative from
Frank Cowan Insurance
was present at the
meeting to review
township insuarance with
council and some policies
were updated.
Ian Deslauriers of the
Maitland Valley Con-
servation Area reviewed
with council the recently
completed Lake Huron
Waterfront Study as to
recommendations and
maps. He requested that
council study the volume
of documents and maps
as it would be of value to
the Huron area. He also
'requested that a
representative from
Colborne Council be
appointed to sit with
representatives of
Goderich Township, Ash-
field Township and the
town of Goderich as a
steering'committee and
that the M.V.C.A. be
notified about this. The
M.V.C.A. is planning a
limited ravine and
erosion study for 1979.
ROADS
Pollard's " tender for
calcium chloride at
$103.50 per flake ton was
approved by council.
The oiling of the
boundary. road at Nile
was dicussed and left for
a d€ision pending
council's inspection of the
road.
Council also discussed
examining the paving of
_township roads in Huron
Township, Bruce County.'
It was left up to Reeve
Bill Bogie to make
arrangements for this
examination.
The road superin-
tendent was instructed to
get the sprayer ready and
inquire at the
agricultural office about
a spraying course which
Leonard Fisher has
agreed to attend.
The sale of 17 feet of
township property to the
Huron County Road
Department was con-
sidered by council and
then approved. •
CEMETERY REPORT '
Leonard Fisher,
township cemetery
manager, reported
cemetery„ business to
council for the months of
January, February and
March. He discussed with
council the manyunused
and partly unused plots in
the --=cemetery. The out-
come of this discussion
was that the township
clerk was instructed to
write to the cemetery
inspector regarding
procedures to make the
unused plots available for
refsale..
--,Council also approved
the cemetery manager's
request for 800 to 1,000
pounds -of fertilizer for
the cemetery grounds.
DRAINS
Fordyce Clark,
township drainage in-
spector, reported that he
had examined the Tom
Hill property for the tile
drainage outlet and he
requested some advice of
council. He was also
instructed to examine the
Kernighan Drain.
• A tile drainage
borrowing by-law for
$250,000 was approved by
council.
Toth Cooke of Lakeport
Steel Limited approached
council regarding
chartered accountant
Ronald MacDonald's
statement that over 50
per cent of Cooke's
business was for farm
use. Council accepted
MsrcDOnaid's statment
and' the clerk was in-
structed to contact Gary
Davidson regarding
