Time again for the enumeration
•
The countdown to the
May 22 federal election
started last week when
181 enumerators began
the door-to-door search
for voters in • the Huron -
Bruce riding. The
enumeration which
started Monday, was to
finish on Saturday.
Garnet Hicks, chief
returning officer for the
riding said any Canadian
subject who is resident
here and will he 18 veer^
of age by election uay is
eligible to vote in the
riding in the upcoming
election.
This year, under re-
distribution, the riding
has been changed from
Huron -Middlesex to
Huron-Bruce,which
means dropping the north
of Middlesex from the
riding and adding Bruce
County municipalities.
The two decla-red
candidates in the Huron-

Settlement near?
Hydro .makes new offer
Ontario Hydro has
offered a contract. set,
tlement valued at eight
per cent to renew its
collective agreement
with the Ontario Hydro
Employees' Union,
CUPE"Local 1000.
At a meeting April 1,
the union's executive
hoard recommended that
members reject the
settlement. The union's.
15,000 members across
Ontario will now vote on
the offer. If rejected,
Hydro and the em-
ployees'.union *ill be in a
legal strike -lockout
position late•in April.
The wage offer includes
an increase of eight per
cent for all hourly -rated
