The teams were tied at one game apiece heading into. play last week but the Buckeyes swept three Mustangs win championship • from page I p tssout%from behind the net. Martin Cameron had a chance to put Borden ahead by two a minute later but he lifted the puck over the Goderich goal whenleft uncovered in front of tie net. Brian Shewfelt made his first start of the series in the Goderich net and played a fine game, holding the determined Borden shooters at bay, especially in the first two periods. Borden, facing elimination seemed determined to give it their best shot. At the other end of the rink the Mustangs were having their problems as Madge hit two goal posts and Maillet one, but they failed to beat Geffros. Don Elliott got the Mustangs on the board when he broke in on Geffros, tried to deke and then turned and shot from the far side after going across in front of the net "when the puck got tangled in his skates, Rob Eby put Borden back on top when he fired a backhander between Shew.felt's legs after taking a pass out from Grant Archibald. Larry Boyce got the tying goal for Goderich when he took passes from. Mike Wedlock and Steve Walters and went in to deke Geffros, sliding the puck just over the line on the glove side. Goderich went intathe third period with a two man advantage and a good chance to grab the lead but instead it was Borden which scored when Joey Hartford went down the right side and blasted a slapshot along the ice past Shewfelt. However, the Mustangs were not to be denied and three minutes later Larry Madge tied it up, taking a pass from Dan Maillet, moving around a Borden defenceman in the slot and banking a shot into the net off the goalpost. Mike Wedlock scored the winning goal, tipping in a goal -mouth pass from Larry Gaynor midway through the third period. Rob Trebish scored twice within 34 seconds to give the Mustangs their final margin of victory. His first came on a backhand from in close, assisted by Larry Madge and Rob McDonald. The other was a tip -in of Dan Maillet's pass. Don Elliott also drew an assist. The fine brand of hockey provided by the Green and Parent midgets over the past two seasons has been a treat for local hockey fans and attendance at their games, especially in the playoffs has been near - capacity. Junior scouts have expressed interest in several members of the team and it is unlikely ,that they will be together as a team again. Hodges played his usual physical game and added two goals and three assists in the Mustangs 7-1 win. He was sidelined with a shoulder injury - Sunday as the Mustangs won the Midget BB championship with a 6-3 win in Borden.
