Colborne Township
meeting three tenders for
the 1979 gravel
requirements were
considered with that of
Sandy Contracting
Company being accepted
at $28,a20.
Arnold Stothers at-
tended council and ad-
vised regarding work
performed in supplying
gravel fill as various
spring repair
requirements on the
Township roads.
The normal road ex-
penditure budget for 1979
was presented to Council
for consideration
providing for a proposed
capital expenditure on
various projects as listed
in a total of $26,000 plus
normal maintenance
work totalling $147,000
making a total •proposed
expenditure of $173,000.
It was noted that a
subsidy of $86,900 had
been approved by the
district engineer for the
normal maintenance and
construction ex-
penditures in the
Township for 1979. This
budget was approved by
Council.
Notation was made of
the extent of vandalism
at the township workshop..
and the efforts of the
police authorities in
surveillance at the shed.
It was recommended that
a suitable recompense
should be extended to any
Township employee • for
thelf time provided on
weekends etc., for
supervision at the shed.
Better lighting will be
provided at the township
hall parking lot.

Cemetery manager,
recommended -that a new
plot for burial purposes
should be prepared by the
addition of levelling,
seeding, etc. for burial
purposes in the years 1980
and onward. Coundil
extended permission to.
the manager to• proceed
with this work beginning
this year.

barn construction etc.,
supported, by an ap-
proved Certificate of
Compliance from the
Ministry of Agriculture
and Food vas approved
by Council, subject to the

OPINION
The problem of the
occupancy and building
thereon as public lands
(Road Allowances) was
discussed in relation to
.,prepared legislation
respecting squatters
rights. It, was noted that
certain unopened road
allowances in the
township were en-
cumthered in this manner.
It was recommended
that the Clerk secure
legal opinion as to .the
best manner that the
Township cpuld protect
their interest in these
lands — possibly a yearly
rental charge for the use
thereof.
The proposed
agreement with the Town •.
of Goderich respecting
Fire Services for 1979 and
future years was
presented to council.
As the agreement had
been considered with the
Township of Goderich, a
participant in the
proposed agreement and
both townships were in
agreement that an ad-
dendum should be added
to the agreement with
respect to the tanker
truck service which was
provided by the two
townships, the resolution
that maintenance of the
fire tanker be included in
the totalamount of
operational cost and that
any replacement of the
fire tanker be included in
any budget providing for
capital cost replacement
and that any proposed
agreement include a
clause to this effect, was
sent to Goderich Town
Council. Approval for
that resolution has been
received from the town.
