Kincardine dumps Lions 6-2
The Goderich Lions
Pee Wees were
eliminated in the semi-
finals of the 'B' division in
Young Canada Week by
losing 6-2 to Kincardine
last Thursday.
The Lions had reached
the semi-finals by
defeating Exeter 7-1 and
Streetsville 5-3 in earlier
rounds.. Windsor. Minor'
won the .'B' division
championship by ' out-
scoring Kincardine 11-8 in
the final.
Jamie Emmerton was
a one-man gang in
Kincardine's win over
Goderich, scoring five
goals and getting an
assist on the other Kin-
cardine"goal scored by
'Ian MacKenzie.
Peter Stahl scored both
Goderich goals, giving
him a'total of eight in the
three games the Lions
played in 'B' division
games in the tournament.
Stahl's first goal was
assisted by Rob Gibbons
while Trevor Erb 'and
Scott Stokes helped on the
second.
The Goderich and
Kincardine teams played
in the same league this
season, with Goderich
finishing' second and
Kincardine third. The
Goderich team won all
three league games with •
Kincardine by scores of 5-
3, 5-2 and 7-3, but Kin-
cardine defeated the
Lions twice -when they
ri-et in tournaments, 6-2
in Young Canada Week
and 8-0 in the Royal
Canadian Legion Zone •C1
tournament in January.
The Young Canada
Week tournament brings
the Lions Pee Wees'
season to an end. The
Lions had an . overall
record this year of 26
wins, 16 losses and three
.ties in league, tour-
nament and exhibition
play. They were finalists
in the WOAA "BB"
division and won the
consolation cham-
pionship at the Kin-.
cardine Winter Games.
The Lions league record
was. 16 wins, six losses
and - two ties, good for
second place in the final
standings.
The Lions coaching
staff of Richard Madge
and Bob,Dick, along with
manager Bill Rahbek
judged itto be a good
year for the Lions and
with over half of the team
members returning next
•season, the Lions can look
forward to an even better
year next season.

London dumps
Oldtimers 6-3
The London Oldtimers
scored five straight goals
in an 20 minute span to
dump. the Goderich
Oldtimers 6-3 in
exhibition play in
Goderich, Sunday.
The teams were tied 1-1
after the first period of
play but London added
three goals in the second
period and two in the
third en rout to the vic-
tory.
London opened the
scoring in the game but
Goderich tied the game
on an unassisted effort by
E. Kirk. Goderich took a
one -goal lead in the
second period on a goal
by D. Wilkinson but
London scored three
times before the end of
the second period and-
added two in the final
period to clinch the win.

Jack Meriam scored
the final Goderich goal in
the third period. Gary
Pugh led London with
three goals while team-
mate Nory Webb added
two goals.
The first two games
were played in St.
Thomas with scores of 7-5
and 6-4. Mike 0ollins
opened the scoring for
Haylow Electrical in the
first period'but,St. Annes
came back with three
unanswered goals from
Jay Campbell, Blair
Kelsey and Chad Sherret.
Goderich opened the
scoring again in the
second on a rush led by
Tim Chisholm who. also
scored the goal. St.
Thomas came on with a
goal from Shawn Griffin
to end the second period,
4-2.
Goderich came out
roaring in the third
period and Peter Conlon
popped one in with assists
from Brian Hanna and
Tim Chisholm, Jay
Campbell scored his
second in the game for St.
Thomas. Haylow Elec-
trical kept the pressure
on, and Peter Conlon put
away his second for the
ga e with assist from
Ch s Starkey and with 48
SE )nds to go Chris
St .key popped one in
with an assist from Brian
Hanna to tie the game 5 -
5. But St. Thomas scored.
two goals in the last 31
seconds of the game, first
by Jay Campbell his third
for the night and one from
Chad Sherret, his second
of the game, into an
empty net. There were
threepenalties called on
Si. Annes and one on
Haylow Electrical.
Game number two of
this series was last
Friday in St. Thomas, We.
had another bus full of
players and lots of
exhuberant parents and
fans to cheer them'on.
St. Th`bmas got off to a
flying start with a goal
from Chad Sherret at the
14:07 mark and another
from Blair Kelsey to end
the first period. St. Annes'
still had the pressure on
for the second period with
a second by Chad
Sherret. low Elec-
trical got its fi . t goal• of
the game fro Brian
Hanna on assists from
Mike Collins and Chris
Starkey but St. Anne's
Chad Sherret popped in
another goal on an assist
from Jay Campbell.
Goderich kept working
away and it paid off with
two more goals, one from
Tim Riehl on an assist
from Doug Lounsbury
and the other by Robin
Moore to end the second
period 4 - 3. Goderich
Haylow Electrical tame
out flying for the third
period and Peter Conlon
scored at the 14:06 mark
on assists from Chris
Starkey and Brian
Hanna. However St.
Annes kept the pressure
on and scored two more
goals, one from Joe
Dilosa and another from
Jay Campbell to finish
the game 6 - 4. There
were three penalties
handed out to St. Annes
and one to Haylow
Electrical.
The third and what
turned out to be the final
game was playedl in
Goderich, Saturday. We
were privileged to be
following the last game of
the Young Canada Week
and would be followed by
the first game of the
Juvenile series along
with, the Pee Wee "B"
faithful followers it was a
great crowd.
Goderich opened the
scoring in the first period
on a goal from Jeff Stoll

Lounsbury. Blair Kelsey
of St. Annes came right
back to score their goal
and finish the first period.
Chad Sherret put St.
Annes ahead by scoring

Both teams came .put

Dave Casey scored for St.
Thomas on assists from
Dave Sherret and Bill
Kunkel and St. Thomas
continued to hold
Goderich off to end the
game 3 , 2. There were
four penalties handed out
to-Haylow Electrical and
six to St. Annes.
This ended the semi-
finals series and St.
Thomas goes on to meet
the winner of the Thor-
nhill -Whitby series for
the O.M.H.A. Pee Wee
" B " title.

Pee Wee "B" team
