Winner of $1,000 in this
week's Goderich and
District Community
Grandstand Lottery is
Harold Refflinghaus of
Goderich. He held lucky
ticket number 1450. There
are five draws left and it
is still undecided as to
whether or not another
lottery should be held.
+++
And speaking of win-
ners, Gordon Ferris of
Goderich won a bonanza
raffle while aboard the
cruise ship, Carnivale, on
a Caribbean cruise last
week with his wife. The
raffle prize, was
American cash
amounting to the price of
one cruise fare.

The Goderich Kinettes
are planning an auction
sale for early May and as
this is the "spring
cleaning" time of year,
they feel it is also a good
time to ask for donations.
Instead of throwing away
the stuff you've cleared
out of your attic or
garage, why not give Dot
Scott (524-7036) or Sandy
Pollock (524-2572) of the
Kinettesa call. They will
see that your "stuff" gets
picked up and sorted for
their sale. Watch the ads
in this newspaper for the
next several weeks for
further information.

This month and next
month offers some good
musical entertainment
for the folks of Goderich.
The ,Sounds of Goderich
'79 concert, featuring
three local choirs and the
Laketown Band, is being
held in the G.D.C.I.
auditorium this Friday
evening at 8 p.m.
Then ,on Saturday,
April 28 the Gdderich Big
Sing, sponsored by the
Associated Male
Choruses of Ontario, will
be held in Knox
Presbyterian Church at 8
p.m. This concert will
feature the Queensmen of
Toronto, the Inter-
national Harvesterchoir
of Hamilton, the Brant
Men of Song from
Brantford, the Fleming
Gray Chorus of Cam-
bridge -and •the Har-
bouraires of Goderich.

E. Barker of Goderich'
sent us a cartoon this
week clipped from the
Globe and Mail last fall.
It is one from theseries
entitled "Herman" and
shows two hospital
patients sharing the same
bed, one with his feet -2
sticking out by the othef
one's head. A doctor is
assuring the two un-
comfortable
ncomfortable patients with
the words, "Look, as soon
as a private room
becomes available, you'll
get one."
At first glance, the
cartoon is funny but it's
not 'so funny when one
considers the very real
situation of hospital bed
shortages facing us here
in Huron County. Mr.
Barker says if Health
Minister Dennis Timbrell
has his way, perhaps we
can expect a situation
similar to the one
depicted in the cartoon to
develop in our own
hospital!

Senior students and
some of their teachers
from G.D.C.I. will be
visiting the University of
Waterloo on Monday,
April 2. Along with
students from several
other Ontario high
schools, they will spend
the day learning about
computers. They will
attend morning lectures
and also get the chance to
use one of the multi-
million dollar computers
on the UW campus in the
afternoon to find their
own solutions' to
problems. Consultants
will be available for
assistance.
UW has been offering
these "computer science
days" to high.. school
students for more than 19
years. Last year, 9,000
students from 210 high
schools in Ontarip,visited
the campus. UW feels it is
important to inform
young peopleabout
computers since in-
creasingly, society is"
looking to the computing
profession to solve its
information-processing
problems.
