Owen Sound `ups
Gee Gees 95-58
' Goderich Garb and
Gear Gee Gees travelled
to Owen Sound last
Friday night needing a
victory to clinch first
place in the Lakeshore
Intermediate Basketball
League. Such was not the
case however as the
locals were blasted by a
score of 98-58.
The Gee Gees were flat
throughout the game,
shooting poorly and
playing uninspired
defense. Greg Beacom
was top scorer for
Goderich with 22 points,
followed by Al Sygrove
with 16 and Jeff Baechler
with 10. Dave Ross and
Jim Watt had four points
each and Mike Wildgen
added 2 points.
The Gee Gees are now
idle for about two weeks
as the schedule comes to
a close. They still have a
slim chance of backing
into first place if Port
Elgin can defeat Owen
Sound in a make-up
game. Playoffs begin the
first week o April.

Jack MacKinnon very
busy serving green beer.

least, 'a cash prize was
awarded to the raconteur

held at the' Maitland. Our
boys curled well, but not
quite well enough. Gerald
Walter and the boys from
Seaforth won the
Tankard and the
Governor General was
won by Palmerston. Hats
off to Doug Bundy who
has , worked all winter
with the high school
curling. The high school
bonspiel was held a
couple of weeks ago and it
was a real treat to watch
a sport where the players
didn't look like men from
outer space, ac-
companied by war hoops
from the stands which
would • frighten .: the
bravest Iroquois.
A special' mention for
skip Phyl Durst who has
been a consistent winner
in out-of-town bonspiels.
