Letter to
the Editor,
Who
decides
values?
Dear Editor,
It is high time that
Canadians got down to
the meaning of VALUES
rather than "beating
around the bush",
listening to American TV,
are reading their
magazines to form in-
accurate and misleading
concepts about how they
should live together.
How people establish
values determines their
behavioural patterns.
The value judgements
of Aristotle conditioned
the behavioural thinking
of Christian authority for
over a thousand years!
So many "half truths",
assumptions, permeate
the medi,.,a that the
average Canadian is
"snowed under" when
trying to form an opinion.
Words like "freedom,"
"democracy" and
"human rights" are used
by politicians - without
any real understanding
about what is meant.
All the talk about
"French language rights
-cultural independence -
their own flag" is just
nothing when we consider
the basic problem, how
do people in Quebec want
to establish va'lues-' A
referendum. is nothing
but a concession, an
admission that one in- '
dividual alone knows how
to establish values! The
German gave in to Hilter.
' His idea of values was
extremely simple, and
old . - "the right of
conquest".
That is a popular
concept today! "Good
guys are losers" - you
must win! Then you
establish value, you win
the• cup or get paid one
million bucks!
Today, through com-
mercialization of values,
Canadians think the
same!
Socrates, Plato - and
Aristotle gave thought to
value! Their quiet effort
in the mind enabled our
forebears to . build
civilization. The whole
Civilized world is a part of
their ideas!
Henry Ford was said to
have stated several years
ago when questioned
about exploiting black
people; "There is simply
not enough exploitation.
The only solution to the
problem in Detzoit is to
employ (exploit) more
blacks".
. .The answer is obvious!
Exploitation is a bad
word only when taken out
of context, but that is
exactly the correct an-
swer under our economic
system! The employer
must exploit 'the efforts of
' and derive a profit from
the work of . those he
employs - or employment
there ceases to exist!
In Marxist societies the
word exploitation is a."no
no!" That is one thing
that cannot be permitted
- except exploitation... by
the state! No individual
or private group can
exploit another. That
sociological concept
forms the basis of
Marxist law and deter-
mines their values!
How value is
established determines
the sociological basis of
the State -determines the
laws under which people
live.
There are some in
Canada who favour union
with the U.S.A. We
Canadians are the same
as Americans!
These people, are, for
the most part "non -
thinkers". their en-
- thusiasm for peripheral,
siittilarities between
Americans and
Canadians does not take
into account the basic
difference - how
Canadians- establish
values.
American society is.
based on the value
concept that; "the in-
dividual alone is
sovereign". All "rights'.'
in law get back to this one
proposition. That is why
