Recalls increase lead
BY DAVE SYKES
The Recalls found some
breathing room this -week
taking four points from
the BDs in men's Monday
bowling to increase their
lead to three points.
Last week the Recalls
had their lead cut to a
single point but they took
four points on the
strength of Walley
Milley's 296 single and 676
triple. Their season total
now stands at 72.
Don Johnston was the
top BD with a 246 single
and 587 triple.His team
has 56,points for the year.
Huromic Metal took
five points from Little
Bowl to tie the teams for
second with 69 points.
Jerry Rivett led Huromic
with a 343 single and 823
triple but his fine per-
formance was eclipsed by
Jim McWhinney's 361
single and 886 triple.
Roys-Boys moved up in
the standings -with a five
point effort against the
Tail Ends. Mike Petrie
rolled a 312 single and 793
triple for Roys while the
Tail Ends got two points
on a George Swan 318
single and Steve Allen 701.
triple.
The Tail Ends are in
third spot with 63 points
and Roys now have 62
points.
The Hopefuls are
finding their way out of
the cellar as they clipped
Augies Doggies for five
points on Terry Ryan's
248 single and 668 triple.
Don Carrick salvaged
two points for Augies with
a 208 single and 569 triple.
They now have 61 points
for the year.
The lowly French team
also made a bid to move
up in the standings at the
expense of the erratic,
Signal -Stars taking all
seven points in the only
sweep of the night.
Larry Daer led French
with a 353 single and 832
triple. French and the
Hopefuls are tied for last
place with 47 points.
The loss left the Stars.
just two points out of the
basement despite a 278
single by Ed Byrski and a
693 triple by Brian
Rumig.
Weather
hampers play
• Bad weather once
again kept attendance
down in the Goderich
Chess club. However ten
members did brave the
weather. Among - them,
Brian Miller 'won his only
game of the evening to
strengthen his hold on the
last top level position.
In Level 2 play, Darrell
Clutton continued his.
winning streak to move
up into third, place.
Darrell is now only one
win behind Jim Kingsley
to leadthe club in vic-
tories. Bob Fitzjames has
• also been on a tear these
last few weeks. Bob not
• only advanced to level
two but also took over the
lead in the most im-
proved category. Bob has
increased his win -loss
percentage over the last
year at this time by a
huge 349 pointsT
In Level 3, Steve
Hammill hada win and a
draw to improve his win
loss mark by 14 points
and now trails Doug
Brindley by only 14
points.
