Three goals in final period lifts Signal -tars to win
The Goderich Signal -
Star juveniles returned to
play in the Shamrock
League last week in
winning style.

The Stars scored three
goals in the final p riQd
as they dumped
Strathroy 5-2 in a league
game in Strathroy
Thursday.
The line of Hugh Hanly,
Roger Lewis and Larry
Daer provided the
scoring punch for the
Stars,accounting for four
of the teams five goals.
The Stars held a" one -
goal lead after the first
period of play with Lewis
scoring the only goal of
the period from Daer and
Hanly. The teams played
tough defensive hockey
and Goderich increased
their lead to two goals
after the second period on
a goal by Daer.
Play opened up in the
final period as Goderich
outscored Strathroy 3-2 to
claim the win. Hanly put
Goderich ahead by three
goals in the third period
before Strathroy finally
got their first goal.

second goal of the game
and the period to boost

Recalls had that -lead cut
to a single point in men's
Monday bowling action
as they dropped Seven
points to the Tail Ends.
The loss left the Recalls
with 68 points one point
ahead of Little Bowl in
the standings. Wally
Milley was the top Recall
bowler with a 295 single
and 735 triple. • " '
The seven points
boosted the Tail Ends into
fourth spot,seven points
behind the leaders. Doug
Zoethout.lei the rout with
a 239 single and Tom
Willis chipped in with a
668 triple.
Little Bowl moved to
'within a point of the
leaders taking seven
points from Augies
Doggies on he strength
of Jim McW'hinney's 321
single and 727 triple.
The Loss. left the
Doggies with a season
total of 59 points. John
Miller was their top man
with a_263 single and 65_9
triple.
Huromic Climbed into
third place with 64 points
taking five points in a
clash with Roys Boys.
Brian McLean topped
Huromic bowlers with a
285 single • and 679 triple.
Heinz Sartori's 279 single
and 719 „triple slavaged
two p 'riffs for Roys to up
their sbason total to 57
points.
In other action the
Signal Stars took five
points from the BDs to
move up in the pack with
49 points. Tom Flynn led
the Stars with a 286 single
and 685 triple.
Charlie Johnston lifted
the BDs to 53 points with
his 216 single and 621
triple.
In the battle for the
basement French raked
the Hopefuls for five
points to move within two
points of the Hopefuls.
French now has 40 points.
Larry Daer was the top
Franch bowler with a 313
single and 783 triple.
Gene Ryan had a 274
single and 666 triple for
the Hopefuls.
