The Lions had lost their first round game, 12-5, to Strathroy. Strathroy went on to The Goderich Midget girls softball team won two .the WOAA title. In the Silver Stick Tournament in Petrolia, the Green and • Parent team advanced to the semi-finals on the strength of a 6-2 win over Mooretown —and a• 9-3, romp over . Sarnia Township. • The Goderich team also won two league games, 16-2 over Kincardine, and 9-5 over Listowel. This weekend the midgets have some big games coming up. Friday play the Vasteras Chess �a ui ^plr] y goal performances from Don Elliott and Dan Maillet. Larry Madge had one goal and set up three others. Rob McDonald got the other Goderich goal. Rob Trebish had two assists. Single assists went to Maillet, Mark Rowe and Jim Costello. Goderich: -scored three unanswered goals in the first period,, . but Mooretown got one back. .in the second and scored the opening goal of the third period to close the margin to 3-2 before Goderich came back.with three more countersto. sew it up. Larry Madge -. led the defeat Port Elgin 10-2 in the semi-final and blasted Kincardine 15-2 in the championship final. The Lions advanced to the Consolation final by default because Hanover did not show up. In place of the consolation semi- final, the Lions played an exhibition game against the, Kincardine Atoms and won easily by a 21-2 romp. for Goderich. Grant Garrow had a goal and an assist. Todd Graham and Paul Brenner scored Singles. Daryl Madge had an assist. In the Lions win over the Kincardine Atoms, John Thompson had five goalsS' and two assists. Paul Brenner scored three times and had three assists and Todd Graham had three goals and one The Lions took two off , assist. In their _ 7-2 win over Listowel in league play, the Lions got single goals from seven different players. Daryl Madge,' Grant Garrow, Robbie ' Gibbons, Nick Trebish, John Thompson, Paul Brenner and Mike Brenner were the Goderich marksmen. Madge and Trevor Erb also had assists. The Lions played well in Hanover despite their. 6-4 loss. John Thompson scored two of the Goderich goals: Rob" Gibbons and Paul Brenner got the others. Brenner also had one assist as did Mike Brenner, Todd Graham and Daryl Madge. and, beating Walkerton 7- 5, but losing 6-4 to Hanover. Following these games, the Lions have a league record of 10 wins, three losses and two ties. In the Kincardine tournament, the Lions scored four unanswered third period goals --to break up a tight game with Sarnia and win the consolation trophy and accompanying bronze medallions. David Day scored two goals for .the Lions. Todd Graham and John Thompson had one goal and two assists each. Peter Stahl had a goal and an assist. Nick Trebish and Trevor Erb scored the other Goderich goals. Daryl Madge,- Mike 13-renner,and-Shawn Rahbek had assists. 'Frank Remes scored both Sarnia goals. The Strathroy' team, which overpowered all opposition in the tour- Peter Struthers had nament, got four_ goal- two for Hanover.
