The Forester foursome of Ribey, Foster, Hawkins and Bogie chalked up their sixth consecutive victory as they downed the Champion Girls 18 to 2. The spirit of Christmas was apparent as the Foresters capitalized on many "gifts" in the early going and then turned into Scrooge in the later ends as they refused to share in the gift giving. Hardwork by Lois Oat - man and Michelle Morenz, topped off by a fine shot by Skip Sylvia Bolan, resulted in the only points for the `spirited' girls late in the game. The game of the week saw previously unbeaten Victoria and Grey drop a hard fought decision to Local 1863 by the misleading score of 8 to 3. Union skip Jack Kellough was outstanding throughout the critical confrontation. Kellough's value to his team was best demonstrated in the first end as Victoria and Grey sat with four rocks in the house with only one shot remaining for the union representatives. Kellough coolly drew to the four foot with his last MORTGAGE MONEY DON DENOMME *BEST RATES - *BEST TERMS *BEST SERVICE Call Don Collect anytime at 524-2747 ADVANCED REALTY FUNDING CORPORATION 150 Cambria Road N. "We were tired of buying people drinks after each game anyway." Debbie and Del Jr. combined to lead the Mitchelmore Family to their fifth triumph of the season as they over- powered the luckless Victoria Teachers 11 to 4. Fine curling by Teachers Anne Bond and Ron Ritchie helped to keep the match close until the fifth end when the Mit- chelmore clan struck for four big points and a commanding lead which they protected for the remainder of the game. Phil Paquette shook off a hockey injury from' night before to provide the spark that motivated the Huron Health Unit to key victory over AM&G Hospital No. 1 Tearl2 by the score of 9 to 4. Phil's efforts were particularly noticeable in the crucial early ends when either team could have built up the momentum needed for success. Hospitalites Peter Bergin and Bill Duckworth had strong games in a losing cause. The G.D.C.I. Teachers recorded their fifth win in a row as they downed the Goderich Legion 13 to 3. We are pleased to report Mrs. Wm. Taman is slowly recuperating at her home after a fall on November 13 . When :000'(lill/%Illi) • • tan • • :,ti • 3 • •• • threesome of Vic Powell, Bill "Duncan and Tom Eddy discovered how difficult it is to build an end against the sharp- shooting front three of the Teachers. Lead Del Almeida was especially good as he consistently began the end with perfectly placed lead rocks. After four ends, the G.D.C.I. Vikings and the Champion Sales Office were locked in close contest. For the Sales Office foursome, however, the roof fell in in the fifth end as the student -teacher Vikings collected five big points to take the lead. Helen Macdonald and Bill Hayward had - been going to vote, she fell and dislocated her shoulder. We regret several off our residents have been bereaved this past few weeks and the sympathy of the community is extended to the family of the late Rev. Leonard Warr of Meneset Park, the family of the late Marvin Durnin County Road No. 25, and relatives and friends of the late Marr Shaw Hwy. No. 21. outstanding for the Champion team in the early going but the young men of G.D.C.I. took control in the latter stages of the match. The May -December unit off Rob Cox and Dave Cloet led the Vikings. throughout the game as they made difficult shots time and time again. -Jim Bell stopped. talking about his new son long enough Thursday to put in one of his finest games of the season as he helped the Assessment Office ruin the Christmas spirit of the A.M.&G. Hospital No. 2 Team by beating them 11 to 1. Jane Klages, long recognized as the best curler in the Klages household, had a strong game for the unsuccessful Hospital team as did ' powerful sweeping Dawn West- brook. The Elementary Teachers are on a hot streak. Doug Yeo, Donald MacDonald, Marylu Taylor and Dianne Budnark all curled ex- pertly as they completely manhandled the Champion Office unit and claimed their second victory in a row 10 to 4. The. Champion men made a valiant effort to come back late'in the contest death but cool precise curling by skip Budnark stymied them three ends in a row. The Father -Son duo of Paul and Jim Bolan was impressive for the Champion quartet but the educators were just too sharp in this pre - Christmas shootout. I hope everyone in the Industrial League en- joyed a happy Christmas and remember curling begins again on January 4th, 1979. May your New Year be capped with joy in every direction.
