My two little sisters were over by the fireplace keeping warm and dreaming about Santa Claus. We had just emmigrated from England in search to find freedom and room to raise our familys. I was much to young to remember England but mom and dad told us wonderful stories about the old land. This was to be our •first Christmas in this new land. Our gifts were all wrapped and syaiting for the tree the decorations were made and ready to be hung on the branches of the tree. Mom had made • Christmas cookies in the shapes of Santas, Reindeers and even a few Angels and Stars!. There was only one problem we did not have a tree to put the presents under and to hang the decorations on 0. and it was the day before Christmas. The weather Q•ti was to bad to see into and «. \ much to bad to walk in there for father was not g. ti able to get us a tree. We yy// all knew that father had M tried his best to get a tree for us but the weather kl was just to bad. Evening Q• came and mom called us over so that she could read the night before 4 Christmas. One of my Wi little sisters asked mom '''(J to tell us about Christmas 1A' in England. The stories sounded so wonderful and so full of celebration but not once did we regret i'y' being in this new land. Y For we had the greatest y, gift of all, each other. That was the first Christmas in this new and wonderful land. (Home). Merry Christmas. Tim Reid =+ " Je- Grade 8 St. Marys School ,,`, .''•Z-':•'-ted 'v From May & Judy 33 WEST ST.
