SANDRA a We look forward to serving you again AND DAVID ORR STAFF THE WHITE CARNATION HOLMESVILLE A tr ee from the bush It was one week before Christmas and we had to get a Christmas tree. We went into the bush. My fafher and I split up..I had an axe and my father had one too. I found a big tree, it was nice. I went and got my father. ' We took it home and put the decorations on. There were popcorn strings, gingerbread men and all kinds of other things. When we were done we sat down and had a cup of cocoa. Then mother told us to go up to the loft. When we came down there were eight presents under the tree. After that we went outside and made snow forts. After that we went and had snow ball fights. Four days went by and it was Christmas Eve. We all went up to the loft and ,said prayers and went.t bed. We " woke up and mother had breakfast on the table. After we ate, mother told us to go and get neighbours. I went over and told them to come over for Christmas. They came over and we opened the presents. I got a pair of shoes and a blanket. After we opened the presents we went outside and made a snowman. It was time for dinner so we came in and said prayers. Then we ate. After we went outside and all t us went tobogan- ning. After that our friends went home and we went home. That is what Christmas was like in 1850. Mike Austin Age 12 St..Joseph's, Kingsbridge Aflerrq Christmas May hearts be filled with gladness on His birthday. Thanks.
