SILENT NIGHT
Silent night! Holy night!
All is calm, all is bright:
Round yon Virgin Mother and Child,
Holy Infant so tender and mild,
Sleep in heavenly peace,
Sleep in heavenly peace.
Silent night! Holy night!
Shepherds quake at the sight;
Glories stream from heaven afar,
Heavenly hosts sing Hallelujah.
Christ, the Saviour, is born!
Christ, the Saviour, is born!
Silent night! Holy night!
Son of God, love's pure light
Radiant beams from Thy holy face,
With the dawn of redeeming grace,
Jesus, Lord, at They birth,
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth.
THE FIRST NOEL
The first noel the angel did say
Was to certain poor shepherds in fields as they
lay;
In fields where they lay keeping their sheep
On a cold winter's night that was so deep.
(Refrain)
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel,
Born is the King of Israel.
They looked up and 'saw a star
Shining in the east, beyond them far,
And to the earth it gave great light,
And so it continued both day and night.
And by the light of the same star,
Three wisemen came from country far;
To seek for a king was their intent,
And t follow the star wherever it went.
This star drew nigh to the north-west,
O'er Bethlehem it took its rest,
And there it did both stop and stay,
Right over the place where Jesus lay.
Then entered in those wisemen three,
Full reverently upon the knee,
And offered there, in His presence
Their gold, and myrrh, and frankincense.
WE THREE KINGS
OF ORIENT ARE
it
We three Kings of Orient are,
Bearing gifts we traverse afar,
Field and fountain, moor and mountain,
Following yonder Star.
(Refrain)
0 Star of Wonder, Star of night,
Star with royal beauty bright,
Westward leading, still proceeding,
Guide us to Thy perfect light.
Born a king of Bethlehem's plain,
Gnliti bring to crown Him again;
King forever, ceasing never,
Over us 1,11 to reign.
Frankincense to offer have I
Incense owns a Deity high,
Pray and praising, all men raising,
Worship Him, God most High.
Myrrh is mine, its bitter perfume
Breathes a life of gathering gloom;
Sorrowing, sighing, bleeding, dying
Sealed in the stone-cold tomb.
Glorious now behold Him arise,
King and God and Sacrifice,
Alleluia, Alleluia,
•Earth to the heavens replies.
WHILE SHEPHERDS
WATCHED
While shepherds watched their flocks by night,
All seated on the ground,
The Angel of the Lord came down
And glory shone around.
"Fear not," said He for mighty dread
Had seized their troubled mind;
"Glad tidings of great joy I bring
To you and all mankind.
"To you, in David's town, this day
Is born, of David's line,
The Saviour,cwho is Christ the Lord;
And this shall be the sign;
And this shall be the sign:
"All glory be to God on high,
And to the earth be peace:
Good will henceforth from heav'n to men,
Begin and never cease,
Begin and never cease!"

Sweetly singing o'er the plains
And the mountains in reply
Echoing_their joyous strains.
Goria in excelsis Deo,
Gloria in excelsis Deo.

Why your joyous strains prolong?
What the gladsome tidings be
Which inspire your heavenly song?

GOD REST YOU
MERRY, GENTLEMEN
God rest you merry, gentlemen,
Let nothing you dismay,
Remember Christ our Saviour
Was born on Christmas day,
To save us all from Satan's pow'r
When we were gone astray;
0 tidings of comfort and joy, comfort and joy,
0 tidings of comfort and joy.
From God, our heav'nly father,
A blessed angel came;
And unto certain shepherds
Brought tidings of the same;
How that in Bethlehem was born
The son of God by name
"Fear not then," said the Angel,
"Let, nothing you affright,
This day is born a Saviour
Of a pure Virgin bright,
To free all those who trust in Him
From Satan's power and might."
The shepherds at those tidings
Reioiced much in mind,
And left their flocks a feeding
In tempest, storm, and wind:
And went to Bethlehem straightway,
The Son of God to find.
And when they came to Bethlehem
Where our dear Saviour lay,
They found Him in a manger,
Where oxen feed on hay;
His mother Mary kneeling down,
Unto the Lord did pray.

The little Lord Jesus
Asleep on the hay.
The cattle are lowing
The Baby awakes,
But little Lord Jesus
No crying He makes
I love Thee, Lord Jesus ;
Look down from the sky,
And stay by my side
Until morning is nigh.

IT CAME UPON nug
NouNicart OLEO
It canigupqn the xdnight clear,
That glorious song of old,
From Angels bending near the earth
To touch their harps of,gold : -
"Peace on the earth, goodwill to mew, -
From heaven's al),gracious King!"
The world in solemn stillness lay
To hear the angels sing.
Still through the cloven skies they come
With peaceful wings unfurled:
And still their heavenly music floats
O'er all the weary world;
Above its sad and lowly plains
They bend on hovering wing,
And ever o'er its Babel sounds
The blessed angels sing.
And ye, beneath life's crushing load,
Whose forms are bending low,
Who toil along the climbing way
With painful steps and slow,
Look now! for glad and golden hours
come swiftly on the wing,
0 rest beside the weary road,
And hear the angel sing.
For lo, the days are hastning on,
By prophet bards foretold,
When with the ever circling years
Comes round the age of gold;
When peace shall over all the earth
Its ancient splendors fling,
And the whole world give back the son
Which now the angels sing.
ANGELS FROM THE
REALMS OF GLORY
Angels from the realms of glory,
Wing your flight o'er all the earth;
Ye who sang creation's story,
Now proclaim Messiah's birth;
Come and worhsip, come and worship,
Worship Christ, the new-born King.
Shepherds, in the fields abiding,
Watching o'er your flocks by night,
God with man is now residing,
Yonder shines the infant Light;
Come and worship, come and worship,
Worship Christ, the new-born King.
Sages, leave your contemplations;
Brighter visions beam afar;
Seek the great Desire of nations ;
Ye have seen His natal star;
Come and worship, come and worship,
Warship Christ, the new-born King.
Saints, before the altar bending,
Watching long in hope an4 fear,
Suddenly the Lord descending,
In His temple shall appear;
Come and worship, come and worship,
Worship Christ, the new-born King.

Above
Above thy deep and dreamless sleep
The silent stars go by
Yet in they dark streets shineth
The everlasting Light;
The hopes and fears of all the years
Are met in thee tonight.
For Christ is born of Mary;
And gathering all above,
While mortals sleep, the angels keep
Their watch of wondering love.
0 morning stars, together
Proclaim the holy birth,
And praises sing to God the King,
And peace to men on earth.
How silently how silently,
The wondrous gift is given!
So God imparts to human hearts
The blessings of his heaven.
No ear may hear his coming;
But in this world of sin,
Where meek souls will receive Him, still
The dear Christ enters in.
g
0 Holy Child of Bethlehem,
Descend to us, we pray;
Cast out our sin, and enter in;
Be born in us today.
We hear the Christmas angels
The great glad tidings tell;
0 come to us abide with us,
Our Lord Emmanuel.
WHAT CHILD IS THIS?
What Child is this, who laid to rest,
On Mary's lap is sleeping?
Whom angels greet with anthems sweet,
While shepherds watch are keeping?
(Refrain)
This, this is Christ the King;
Whom shepherds guard and angels sing;
Haste, haste to bring Him laud,
The Babae, the Son of Mary!
Why lies He in such mean estate,
Where bx and ass are feeding?
Good Christian, fear; for sinners here
The silent word is pleading:
Nails, spears, shall pierce Him through,
The CrosS. He bore for me, for you;
Hail, hail, the word made flesh,
The Babe, the Son, of Mary!
THE COVENTRY CAROL
Lullay, Thou little tiny child,
Bye, bye, lully, lullay, lullay,
Thou little tiny Child
Bye, bye, lully, lullay.
0 sisters, too, how may we do,
For to preserve this day,
This poor youngling for whom we sing?
Bye, bye, lully, lullay.
Herod, the King, in his raging,
Charged he hath this day,
His men of might, in his own right,
All children young to slay.
