Suns impressivein 5-O win
The Goderich Atoms
regained the title "Super
Suns" by shutting out
Hanover by a 5-0 score
Sunday. Coach Dennis
Williamson was pleased
with the effort by the
whole team.
The Suns scored twice
in the first period, the
first when Todd Gilchrist
passed from the corner
to Dave Telford who
picked the top corner
neatly. The Suns' second
goal came on a passing
play from Scott Garrow
and Davey Jewell to
A member of the Goderich Suncoast Atoms was
foiled on this scoring attempt in a game against
Hanover Sunday but although the Hanover goalie
stopped the initial shot a Suns player followed up to
knock in the rebound. The suns increased their
league lead in the WOAA with a 5-0 win over
Hanover. (photo by Dave Sykes)
Ronnie ` Chapman who
ked it behind the
Hanover goalie. Hanover
held firm against strong
pressure in the second
period, as Goderich had
several opportunities to
score.
The third period let-
down that has caused the
Suns' problems for the
early part of the season
did not materialize on
Sunday. Strong checking
by the forwards and good
puck control by the
defence kept them out of
trouble. Steve Schutz was
the first to find the mark
in the third period as he
picked up a pass from
Kevin Telford and found
the open corner. Todd
Jeffery was the fourth
Goderich marksman,
scoring on an unassisted
rush that left several
Hanover defenders in his
wake.
The final Goderich goal
was scored by Steve
Schutz who picked up the
puck on a good poke
check and stickha.nded
past a weary Hanover
defence to finish the Suns'
scoring.
Credit must be given to
goalies Jay Williamson
and Jeff Scott who each
made several good saves
in earning the shutout
and discouraging the
Hanover attackers. Chris
Sideris, Todd .Jeffery,
Kevin Telford and Kelly
Allin returned to their
best form on defence,
keeping Hanover for-
wards busy in front of the
Goderich net and playing
the blueline effectively in
the Suns' attack.
The Suns are off to
Walkerton on Saturday,
for what the coach calls
the most important game
of the season. A win in
Walkerton could give the
Suns a solid grip on first
place and put pressure on
Mount Forest, their
strongest competition, to
play winning hockey for
the rest of the season.

Huron -Perth Conference
game. The game was
close throughout, with the
score deadlocked at 36-36
at the half. Listowel had a
height advantage on the

offensive threat was built
around a long pass to a

employed a full court
press which took any
other offensive threat
away from the Lords.
Jim Costello's shooting
provided the Vikings with
the offence they needed
as he hit for 18 points.

five points for the
