Ron must have been a little weak and Al a little rusty however, since Bruce Erskine's surprising V&G rink handed the hospital employees their first setback. The score of 6-4 indicates the com- petitive nature of this contest. Both Erskine and Klages made difficult shots and received ex- cellent support from their front threes. The near perfect play and im- portance of the game wins this match the game of the week honours. Cam Bogie's ability to draw was the highlight of the Foresters fourth victory of the season as they overcame a determined Victoria Teachers foursome 12-4. Barb Lade and Marty Bond performed well for skip Ron Ritchie but the experienced Bogie did not allow the spirited • educators a chance to achieve an upset. Jameson Ribey was outstanding for . the victors as his shots often set up the big end for his team. Laurie Ginn provided the spark which resulted in a big triumph for the Huron Health Unit over a strong Assessment Office 9-1. Fine shots by Jack MacKinnon in the early ends allowed the "healthy ones" to grab a big lead which the assessors were unable to overcome despite out- standing effort by Sue Ritchie. Hugh Hanly and Del Mitchel more enjoyed strong games as the Mitchelmore family overpowered the Champion Office con- tingent by a 13-4 score. Barry Page and Gord Crabb curled well for the Office team but were unable to come up with the big shot at crucial times while the "M" family was unrelenting in their quest for their third triumph of the young season. Last year's champions, Local 1863 have been showing last year's form recently as they won their third game in a row by doubling the .score on the Goderich Legion unit 8-4. Skip Jack Kellough was particularly sharp on his take-outs while Glen Falkiner had his draw weight down perfectly. Sharp take-outs and accurate draws are a winning combination anytime and Legion member Bill Duncan admitted later that it was this one-two punch that did his team in. The G.D,C.I: Teachers had all the breaks in their contest against the Champion Girls as the final tally of 16-2 would indicate. The girls scored in the first end but after that the precision curling of Del Almeida, Doug Bundy and Donna Doidge was too much. Marg De Bolt made a number of fine shots for the Girls but as skip Sylvia Bolan succinctly put it later "We have had better night". Di-ve Cloet's ex- perience united with his younger teaminates' etithusiastn 'to produce a conVincing 818 victory for the, D.CJ. Vikings over the- EleMentary Teachers, The game tethers neveregave up to the students as they scored two in the final end but it was a case of too little too late. Don and Dianne Budnark had good games but their attempts were overcome by the team effort of Cloet and company. Cloet's night was topped off later with the birth of his first child, an 8 lb. 2 oz. boy. Congratulations Dave and Diane! Last week the AM&G Hospital No. 2 team came very close to their first victory losing by a single point. 'This week, however, they came out flying and when the smoke cleared they had accomplished their first triumph of the year dumping the Champion Sales Office 10-5. Hospitalites Judith -Anne Murray, •Dawn West- brook, Jennifer Matthews and Elmer Taylor all contributed an equal share to their victory. Opposing skip, Bill Hayward singled out Pete Warner as the Sales Office's best curler. Unlike their previous contests, the Hospital team was able to get an early lead primarily due to Skip Taylor's excellent performance and then hang on to record what they hope will be just the first of many victories. Bogie faced Jack Kellough's rink to determine the Maitland representative in Division 13B for the Consul playdowns and here Kellough looks over his opposition skip's sh.oulder to see what the shot does. Bogie defeated Kellough's rink and went on to win the playdowns.
