The league victory was a 66-19 thrashing of the Central Huron (Clinton) Redmen, here Thursday. Coach Myles Mur - dock's Vikings won two games in Owen Sound Friday, 42-14 over Westhill Collegiate • and 47-33 over OSCVI, but dropped a 51-41 decision to Sarnia SCITS here Tuesday. Colin Alexander with 13 points, Chris Pitre with 11 and Rob Plunkett with 10 led the Viking attack against Clinton. Dave MacDonald and Scott Bell had six points each. Ben Melick, Dave McDonald, Phil Grace and Karl Krohmer had four points apiece for the Vikings. Also scoring for Goderich were John Leddy, Kevin Adams and Joe Morrissey with two points each and Jim MacDonald with one point. The Vikings played much better defensively in this game than in their loss to Sarnia, who were led by Joe Arcury's 12 points. Chris Pitre had 10 points for the Vikings. Kevin Adams and Rob Plunkett had six each and Dave McDonald had five. Phil Grace with four points and Ben Melick, Jim MacDonald, ..John Leddy, Paul King and Karl Krohmer with two each rounded out the Viking scoring. Against Westhill, the Vikings jumped off to a 28-8 half-time lead, ef- fectively shutting down Owen Sound's fast break. OSCVI took control in the early part off that game and at on&point led the Vikings by 12 points, but the Vikes, led by key baskets by Karl Krohmer and Kevin Adams came back to tie the score 19-19 by half-time. Tenacious defensive play by the Vikings gave them control in the second half and Goderich outscored Gwen Sound 28-14 to win 47-33° Chris Pitre with 12 points led the Viking attack. Ben Melick and Kevin Adams had eight points each. Rob Plunkett had seven and Karl Kroh - mer scored six points for the Vikings. The Suncoast Suns faltered this week, losing their firm grip on first place in the league. Their first setback was a 3-3 tie with Hanover last Wednesday, followed by a 5-4 loss to Mount Forest on Sunday. Hangover opened the scoring in the Wednesday game but Goderich came back in the second period with two goals by Steve Schutz, Kevin Talbot earned assists on both goals and Curt Downham also assisted on the second goal. Hanover evened the scan; with only two seconds to play in the second period. The Suns took the lead on an unassisted goal by- Scott Garrow early in the third period but couldn't keep Hanover in check as the Bruins came back to tie. The Suns opened the scoring on Sunday in only 31, seconds on a goal by Scott Garrow who was Stars sink Belmont 10-1 BY DAVE SYKES The Goderich Signal - Star juveniles erupted for six goals in the second period of an OHA juvenile game in Belmont Sunday as they hammered Belmont 10-1. The win improved the Stars standing in the juvenile league after they dropped three out of their first five league games. Larry Daer led the Goderich scoring with four goals. He scored the only goal of the first period to boost the Stars into a 1-0 lead and began the second period scoring binge with his second goal just 39 seconds into the period. Daer scored his third goal of the game late in the second period and added his fourth on a power play effort in the final period. Team-mates Rick Stoddart, and Doug Cruickshank scored two goals apiece while Gerry Wunnink and Chris Carter scored one goal each. Hugh Hanly, Dale Duncan, Randy Stoddart and Wunnink chipped in with two assists. Goderich built up a 6-0 lead in the second period before Belmont got a goal from Gary Shackleton. Goderich held a 7-1 lead after periods of play and scored three unanswered goals in the final period. Tony Bedard and Gerry Gaynor shared the goalkeeping duties for the Stars. Skaters attend clinic On Oct. 22, fifteen skaters from the Goderich Figure Skating Club travelled to Walkerton to attend an all day N.S.T. Coaches Clinic held for the Interclub Figure Skating Groups by the Western Ontario Section of C.F.S.A. The skaters par- ticipated in on -ice training. and coaching and also attended a variety of lectures after which there was a written exam to complete. All fifteen skaters passed with Tracy MacEwan and Patti Rean attaining their Senior Coaches level. The following have achieved their Junior Level. Anne Allan, Aveleigh Cook, Carol Dechert, Karen Dechert, Cindy Hayward, Debbie Horton„ Fraser Huyck, Kevin Huyck, Melanie Jeffrey, Lesa Kellough, Mary Margaret Murphy, Leslie Rean and Eileen Vollick.
