Each year, certain
people give of their time
to make this event a
success. 'The Huron
County Health Depart-
ment donated one of their
trucks for the parade. We
were able to use Hayter's
garage to decorate the
float.
Members of the library
staff worked on the float
duringthe week.
I have talked to other
people who participated
in the parade and they
wonder about the apathy
in the town toward this
event.
Each year many of the
children look forward to
the parade and I feel that
it is up to the adults to
make the parade a
success.
Why were not some of
themerchants
represented in the
parade? Many families
stayed after the parade
and did their shopping.
Let's get together next
year and make this
yearly event a success.

About hell
Dear Editor:
' Again I must answer
Mr. Barney on two
references which he
made to the student's
' letter pertaining to the
article on his objection to
teaching religion in. the
schools; and also his
improper criticism of
certain parts by the
clergyman who faithfully
and correctly made
reference to that sure -
place both the Bible and
Jesus taught concerning
"hell".
Many of my fellow
colleagues as well as
myself have had --the
important privilege and
opportunity of teaching
Christian education in
both elementary , and
secondary schools. I have
taught such 'a needy
subject in schools
(chiefly Grades 5 to 8, 9
and 10) for the past 32
years and enjoyed every
minute .of. it. School
boards, principals,
teachers, parents and
pupils have been most co-
operative and grateful for
such a ministry and I'm
still doing it.
There is no such im-
position as mentioned by
the student who wrote
concerning religion in the
schools. When the
teacher or minister en-
ters the classroom, any
one pupil or student has
the right to leave the
room and be assigned to
do other studies or work if
he or she so wishes. The
principal or teacher
performs this duty.
Every student has this
option but generally there
are very few who leave
the class.
You see, many have the
opportunity of being
taught the things of God
as Creator, Redeemer
and Provider in
everything, physically,
morally and spiritually.
May I " repeat that
religious education and
the teachings of Jesus
Christ when accepted by
the individual ad-
ministers d salvation and
strength in every hour of
trial, temptation or any
other need that individual
may have.
May I remind Mr.
Barney how necessary it
is to rightly divide the
word of truth. The death
mentioned in
Ecclesiastes 9:7-10 (not
just verse 10) speaks of
physical destiny. It
mentions eating bread,
drinking wine, apparel
molifing the head, life of
vanity, thy days, this life
and thy labor.
These are all temporal
and certainly there is no
work nor device, •nor
knowledge, nor wisdom
in the GRAVE (not hell)
and when natural death
becomes a reality.
As for that lone, Cold
body, it becomes corrupt
and ultimately dust and
ashes. The statement God
said to Adam and Eve
hadnothing to do with
physical or natural death
primarily. This kind of
death was a spiritual one,
a death relative to the
soul, that quality and gift
of life which ceases when
disobedience is
manifested towards
God's word and will.
Adam and Eve were
still very much alive
physically even after
committing an act of
sin. They tried to hide
from God and losing their
former glory, became
naked and were
ashamed, and guilty
before God. Now as a
result and as sin entered
into the world and death
by sin, so death was
passed upon all men,. for
all have sinned and come
short of the glory of God.
(Romans 3:23).
Aren't you glad we can
read and rejoice with the
apostle Paul who wrote in
1 Cor, 15: 20-23: "For
since by man came death
(spiritual and physical)
by man also came the
resurrection of the dead,
for as in Adam all die
(spiritual and physical),
even so in Christ shall all
be made alive; but every
man in his own order:
Christ the first fruits;
afterward they that are
Christ's at His coming."
I suggest that if Mr.
Barney would carefully
read the article written
by the clergyman in
question and understand
the true gist of what he
was saying (and throw
away his colored glasses
which he uses quite
frequently) and really get
on board the heavenly
train, he would become a
much happier man.

Dear Editor:
As you know, PAR-
TICIPaction is a non-
profit organization and
our aim is to promote
increased physical ac-
tivity among Canadians.
To. this end, we have
created several media
campaigns and owe all of
our terrific exposure to
Canada's media, who
provide us with space -
available time and space
in all areas: radio,
television, print, etc.
Our print campaign has
been a powerful tool in
our drive to get
Canadians thinking about
being more active.
Newspapers all across
Canada are telling us that
our slogans are going
over extremely well with
their readers. They are
also telling us to keep our
material fresh and lively
and we concur!
Accordingly, PAR-
TICIPacti•on is in-
troducing new filler
material for the benefit
and enjoyment of your
readers. The enclosed is
part of a major new
campaign called "Fit-
ness Now". It is being
launched on January 1,
1979, on radio, television,
billboards, transit, in
magazines and., with your
generous .:support, in

Bulbs gone
Dear Editor,
It is Monday morning
and I am enjoying a
second cup of coffee.
I walk to our front
window to inspect the
neighbourhood as we
were away for the
weekend celebrating an
early Christmas feast
with relatives : • and
returned late last night.
I look to out front steps
and see to my surprise
that over half of the bulbs
from our outdoor lights
are gone - disappeared!
I am horrified as this
has never happened
before in the four years
we have lived here.
Granted, Ontario
Hydro has been ap-
pealing to my conscience
rather severely about
"wasting electricity and
turning people off", but
my husband braved sub-
zero temperatures to
string the lights in order
to entertain our 16 -month-
old daughter, who is
beginning to appreciate
the colourful decorations
of the holiday season.
I am not writing to
complain about replacing
a few cents worth of
coloured bulbs. I just
wanted to tell someone -
to put my plight on paper.
I only hope our bulbs are
being enjoyed, not
destroyed.
