Taking the ,Skyway
Route from St. ' Peter-
sburg - across miles of
ocean and half a hundred
bridges - I'm sure - still
bugs me when I think of
the way we were held up
for two or three yachts to
pass.
These people were just
playing around out there
but apparently they
signalled the bridge they
wished to pass and' so the
bridge stays up in the air
for 20 to 30 minutes, it
seemed longer, while
these characters come
from somewhere in the
distance.
The same thing hap-
pens on the Inland
Waterway at Venice, two
bridges are involved and
hundreds of cars jam the
highway and the streets
to the other bridge.
Perhaps, some day
there will be removable
masts - or some that are
hinged to help this
situation.
A simpler method
would be to give them
certain times to go
through and let them do
the, sitting and waiting. At
least they can fish - while
they wait. I'm surely glad
we don't have this
problem at home.
So there I am, only here
a few days and I have a
gripe!
I am trying to relax and
simmer down. I've
already had an attack of
hives which after three
days forced me to go to
Emergency.
I thought cutting the
Croton bushes and
spraying the Florida bugs
at the "Rec Hall may
have caused it, but after
hearing what I had been
doing for the last two or
three weeks, the doctor
decided I had earned
those hives and gave me
a shot of adrenalin
derivative.
I had had this treat-
ment once before - about
20 years ago - and after
the first shock and half
hour rest I was good as
new with not a sign of hot
Lumps. But this was
different.
I was fine for half an
hour THEN the shakes
set in and after ten days
they are just easing up -
doesn't sound right to me
but the hives did
disappear after an hour.
I've been , to Venice
twice now, to the Art
League where you can
really relax and work.
The first Friday I stood
on hives - and what a -day
that was, but it was great
to be back.
As in Goderich, it is

Over 80 percent of lung

amazing the amount of

Today I had my first
flight with Doug in his tri -
pacer. Had we
straightened out the
course, I could have
been half way home.
It is fantastic the
Martha Rathburn ap-
pears weekly in The
Signal -Star
patterns. the new homes,
mobile home and cam-
psites have created - and
they are still hugging the
Gulf.
There are still
thousands of acres of land
full of holes and other
shapes 'to be seen. The
colours of the water
along the shore - are as
brilliant as the Caribbean
shores and not so ex-
pensive.
There has been no rain
and the temperature is
still high, in the sixties at
night and eighties in the
day. People are still in
swimming.
So, my next worry is
that 1, have not received a
Signal -Star although my
other mail is coming thru
just fine. Thanks
Margaret!
„Ever.ywhere the
Christmas Season • is
beautifully showing off
the goodies. Apparently
you have to change your
attitude in order to enjoy
it. I'm trying, I'm
TRYING!
We enjoyed the
American tThanksgiving
Day with granddaughter
Linda, Jim and the little
ones. • To me it seemed
like Christmas without
the tinsel.
The orchid trees are in
bloom and in a few weeks
a giant Kapoc tree will be
in bloom. This is a very
giant of a tree which
twists and turns in every
direction and the flowers
- a sparkling shade of red
is ten inches or more
across the middle. -I'll
paint you a picture or
send a snap - how about
that?
I hope you are keeping
your calendar filled up
and enjoying the ac-
tivities. I can just see all
the lovely Christmas
parties that will be
started and I certainly
miss our Santa parade.
,I'm looking forward to
seeing it in the Star.
I'm • happy -we stayed
late this year to enjoy the
wonderful fall season. I
expect by now you have
had some snow flurries.
Somehow - unless it is a
rip snorting storm, you
just HAVE to enjoy that
first snow. From then on
it is a personal matter
and you can enjoy or hate
the winter. I like to enjoy
as much as I can, when I
can - providing I can get
out and around o.k. ,
There are six or seven
of us who won't forget one
winter night about four
years ago. We had been
bridgin' and• enjoying
ourselves. The sound and
sight of the storm did not.
register until we walked
to our cars - in three foot
drifts, I believe!
Our car had to be left
and everyone piled into
Marg Bowras' car and
she drove us with great
difficulty - to our homes -
and she deserved a medal
for getting us all back
safely. What a storm!
That was one of the
first ones and we now
enjoy talking about it -
but it was a real JOLT at
the time - a real surprise.
So as• I watch the'
weather map, I'll worry
about YOU. So have a
care!
Love, Martha.

He who came to dwell

As long as He is with us,
