The junior squad also won their game, although . by •a narrow margin, 56-49. The midgets were on the losing end of a 51-41 score in their game. The teams open the Huron -Perth schedule Thursday against Clinton at GDCI. On Friday the Viking teams will play three exhibition games -in Owen Sound and they will play their second league game in Listowel, 'Tuesday December 12. Recalls take over lead BY DAVE SYKES The Recalls ripped Little Bowl for five points. to strip the Bowlers of their title in Men's Monday night bowling action. . With the five point effort the Recalls slipped into first place two points ahead of Little Bowl in the standings. Wally Milley led the Recalls with a 276 single and 757 'triple to host his team's season total to 52 points. Li•tle Bowl remained in secon place with 50 points the strength of Jim M Whinney's • 283. single and 90 triple Jerry Rivett's 285 single and 725 triple helped Huromic to salvage three points from the Tail Ends and maintain third position with 47 points. Wayne Swan bowled a 281 single and 635 triple in a four -point effort by the Tail Ends who now have 41 points on the season. Roy's Boys jumped into fourth position as they jumped on Hienz Satori's 299 single and 768 triple to grab five points from the Hopefuls. The win boosted the Boys' season output to 46 points. Don Siemon led the Hopefuls with a 283 single and Terry Ryan chipped in with a 661 triple. They now have 31 points on the year. The Signal -Stars gained on the pack as they raked, Augie's Doggies for five points behind Tom Flynn's 329 single and 728 triple. The five -pointer moved the Stars season total to 42 points. Augie Stegenstad lifted his squad to• two points with a-337 single, high for the eventing ` and a 769 triple. The two point effort kept the Doggies in the pack with 45 points. In the final contest French rallied for a rare five point performance at the expense of the BDs to increase their season output to 29 points. Randy Hugill rolled a 302 single and Carson Milley added a 690 triple for French. The BDs upped their season total to 37 points on Bruce Sillib's 205 single and Jim Sanders 531 triple. Unlucky Six lead league with 34 points The Unlucky Six, in first place with 34 points, blanked Jack's Jokers, who are in a three-way tie for sixth with 20. Eric Miller rolled a 260 and 705 for the Unlucky Six, while Jack Gilbert had high games of 267 and 677 for Jack's Jokers. Hopeless, in second place with 33 points gained five points with the help of Ron Bushell's 288 and 603 triple. Last place Sunday Headpins with 18'points gained two points, thanks to Gary Suchard's 224 and 590 triple. The third place_ Hopefully with 32 used George Robinsons 272 and 731 .triple to gain five points against Try Hards tied for fourth with 23, despite George Swan's 292 and 728 triple. Merry Strikers took five points for a total of 20, against Blowouts and both teams are in a three- way tie for sixth. Wayne Swan hit a 224 and 526 triple for Merry Strikers, while Kevin Rumig rolled a 268 and 681 triple for Blowouts. (photo by Dave Sykes) ustangs share second by Brian Marriage The Clinton Mustangs gained a share of second place last weekend in OHA Junior C action, with a 6-6 tie against Walkerton and a 9-5 victory over Port Elgin 9- 5. During Friday night's game, the Stangs played a rather sloppy game, enabling the cellar - dwelling Black Hawks to tie them. The Stangs out- scored them three to one in the first period on goals by Bill Lewis, Paul Helesic andkBill Peters. In the second period, Walkerton scored twice and Clinton scored only once from the stick of Phil Arthur. After Clinton scored twice early in the third period, the Black Hawks rebounded with three unanswered goals to gain the tie. The Clinton marksmen in the third period were Tim McLean and Bill Lewis. In the Sunday af- ternoon contest, the Stangs scored four unanswered third period goals to enable them to defeat Port Elgin 9-5. Clinton scored three goals in the first period to the Bears' ond. Tim McLean fired a single while Steve . Arbour notched a pair. The third period marksmen for Clinton were Steve Arbour with his third, Dave Stephenson with his second and singles by Mike Gibbings and Paul Dougherty. The Mustangs will host the Arthur Eagles this. Friday night at 8:30 p.m. in Brussels. This will be the first appearance for the Stangs in the new Brussels arena and it is hoped a good turnout will show up and support the Mustangs. . The Mustangs are also holding their Christmas party this coming Saturday night at the community centre at 9 p.m. and are hoping that Santa Claus will show up with a bag of tricks to enable them to overtake the Listowel Cyclones and Kincardine Kinucks. eeswater, Air rinks win aitland Open Rinks from Teeswater and Ayr were winners of,. two draws at the Maitland Curling Club Mens Open Bonspiel, held at the club, Saturday. Fourteen teams from Goderich, Kincardine, Palmerston, Ilderton, Mitchell, Teeswater and Ayr participated in the two draws. The Ian Grant rink from Teeswater captured the first draw sponsored by Edward Fuels. Cam Bogie and his Goderich rink finished in second spot while the Roger Klages rink of Palmer- ston was third. The consolation winner of the first draw was the • Jim Hawkins rink of Goderich. The Ken Hacking rink of Ayr took top honors in the the second draw sponsored by Green and Parent Ford. Three Goderich rinks, Ivan Rivett, Jim Crawford and Dennis Hansen finished second, third and fourth. respectively. The Crawford rink was en- tirely composed of GDCI curlers. They played well. against the more . ex- perienced rinks entered in the bonspiel and should pose a serious threat in the O.C.A. junior com- petition. The British Consul Playdowns, to determine the ' Maitland Country Club representative in District 13 B competition, will be held at the club this Saturday. Cam,.' Bogie, Tom Jasper, Larry Sturdy and Jim McCaul have entered rinks in the, competition which begins at 9 a.m. Also this week, Don Mitchelmore's rink is entered in the seniors competition in District 13 B playoffs in Arthur this weekend. Don Edward of Edward Fuels congratulates Ian Grant of Teeswater who skipped the winning rink in the first draw at the Maitland Curling Club in the Men's Open on December 2. Bridge Scores There were nine tables in play at the Legion Hall when the , Goderich Duplicate Bridge Club met on Tuesday evening. Winners of the East- West Division were Jean Cook and Jo Shrier with 1081/2 points. Second place went to Auleen Curry and, Jean Papernick with 104 points and third place was won by Betty and Ray Fisher with 1011/2 points. Winners of the North- South Division were Evelyn Galbraith and Donna Sproul with 1051/2 points. Second place went to Bill Bradley and Aelian Weerasooriya with 991/2, points and third place was won by Mary Don- nelly and Eleanor Erskine with 931/2 points.
