The attendance climaxed a seven week Sunday School contest with the well-known People's Church of Toronto, resulting in a decisive victory for Central Gospel Temple, as well as setting a national attendance record. Since leaving Goderich, Rev. West spent nearly nine years as the Pastor of Calvary Temple in South Bend, Indiana and has been the Pastor of Central since May of 1977. The church is located at 240 Scott Street in the Garden City of St. Catharines, Ontario. Patrons of the bake sale, tea and bazaar held at North Street United Church Saturday were served some tasty treats by members of the Explorers and Messengers who sponsored the bazaar. ANDERSON, PASTOR OF FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH, GODERICH AND CLINTON People seem to be forever planning trips these days. Most people are able to get away on their annual vacation. Vacation periods are longer. People can therefore go further. Why one can board a fast flying jet and go anywhere in this world, have a great vacation: and be back in time for work at the expiration of their vacation period. We, therefore find many spending much time and thought in considering or deter- mining where they should go on their next trip. Information is gathered, many brochures or pamphlets are collected, travel bureaus are consulted. One seeks out others who may have made the trip. -already and who know what the place is like, others who can really _ fill you in because they have already been there. Often the question is asked, "If you had the chance would you go back there again and if not, why not?" Usually then a person has a good idea of what a place is like before they go to it. We don't want to take a trip and spend our vacation in a place that does not appeal to us or have much to offer. The Bible makes it perfectly clear that death is not the end of.life. In Ecclesiastes 12:7 we read: "Then shall the dust return to the earth as 'it was and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it." We see that the body only shall die and that the spirit and soul shall at the time take a trip into eternity. Your soul, which is the real you will be transported to Heaven or Hell. As sure as the Bible is the word of God each one of us will be taking this trip. Do you know where you will be going? Do you know anything about the place? Do you know where you stand with God? I can assure you that you will be taking this trip. There is no way of escape. The mode of transportation will not be by plane or train but by the power of God. However, let us sup- pose that we were to go by train and that two trains were sent. Then it might be like this! There is a train coming It could come any day There will be no tickets sold No matter what you pay Well how do I get on You need a reservation You get it by faith You must believe in Jesus Who came and took your place To die fors all believers He sure did care To die for us at Calvary Yes, He paid our fare What about, those who do not believe that Jesus is the Son of God and Saviour of the world? Well: I hear a train coming I hear the people yell Don't get on this train my friend It's going straight to Hell The devil is our driver He's led us all astray This train is taking us into a Christless eternity. But you must get on for this is the last train and you have to take that trip. Heaven is a place and Hell is a place. In the Gospel according to Saint Luke chapter 16:19-31, Jesus tells us the story of Lazarus the beggar and a certain rich man who both die. The beggar was carried away by angels but the rich man was transported to Turn to page 9A •.
